I bought my 52v 24ah over a year ago and finally getting to my build. Learned yesterday about UPP Battery and the triangle battery fires. My battery is a blue wrapped rectangle.

The info has me a little nervous. I’ve read only good things about the square UPP batteries, many with 3000km on them.

Any thoughts?

IMG_0600.jpeg I can’t even find another brand that makes a 52v 22-30ah battery that’s max 70mm thick that’s either rectangle or will fit I my location.

First off is it really 24Ah capacity? You know they use no name Chinese cells that are supposedly A-grade, but no proof of cell capacity or even how many cells are actually in parallel group.

As far as any/all blue wrapped flat batteries they are Chinese with no proof of Ah capacity and no name Chinese cells with
Protection BMS, but no proof of a balancing feature (not that you really need) with A-grade cells and TLC of battery.

CAUTION: You should get your money's worth of use IF you don't abuse it (e.g. pulling max amps for only seconds instead of minutes).

Charge to 80% and then just before using, top off to 100% just before riding on an extended trip. Do occasionally charge to 100% depending on use, to allow your cells to be properly balanced IF that UPP BMS even has a balancing function or just protection functions. Don't discharge below 30% (47.0v 14s (3.3v/cell)

If you bought the cheapest UPP pack where they don't say what cells are in it then there is cause for concern. They do make good packs with reputable cells (LG, Panasonic, etc.) that have a good history. Which is yours?

As mentioned before, I'm surprised at how few people even know what the actual capacity of their packs are.

I have five different UPP 52 v rectangle batteries just like the one in your picture that are going on their fourth year. I also had a upp 52v triangle battery on a bike that built and sold. I maintain five different e-bikes for the family and have had no issues with UPP or BTE.
I recently put together a test rabbit 60AH setup (as a long range experimental unit) you'll notice the blue 52v on the bottom of the stack, (on semi-dense foam).
It is not supporting the entire as the top batteries are on a tiny bracket supported by top tube.
Bottom line I have no concerns about the quality and toughness and longevity of UPP

Wow, can you even pedal that? My knees would strongly disagree with that wide a block of nonsense where they need to be.

I have a generic 52V 20Ah triangle pack from my first build that I used a few years without issue. Sags a lot, but no other issues. I replaced it with a 52V 28Ah pack using Samsung 35E cells. The 35E's tend to sag anyway, so I have the pack paralleled with 14S of lipos, so I get almost no voltage sag out of the pack, and I haven't seen any capacity degradation since I've used it.
As mentioned, they make packs of different levels of quality, and you can't tell by just looking casually at their listings. But they do highlight the ones that actually have better construction, and some of those listing are funny. They show the "theirs" vs. "ours", but essentially "theirs" is like their cheaper quality packs (no cell holders, etc.). Some will state the specs of the BMS and what functions it performs (balancing, etc.). Basically, if they don't describe it, then you don't get it.
