Using lifepo4 in a petrol car ? Which one ?

Actually it would be a good solution on any rear wheel drive car, as the gearbox is just at the right of the driver (let hand drive), in the middle of the car. Putting the battery in allows shorter cables
On any rear wheel drive car? Not a chance. May be on YOUR rear wheel drive car but not ANY. I have plenty rear wheel drive cars. The engine on those cars is still in front and so is the starter. What does the gearbox have anything to do with the battery? The starter is the one drawing the highest current, so the battery needs to be as close to it as possible.

On RWD cars the engine is mounted longitudinally, and the gearbox is usually between the driver and the passenger. I dont know any RWD car that is not like that.

The starter motor drives the flywheel, which is between the engine and the gearbox, meaning it ends up very near the firewall. Considering you had plenty RWD cars i am surprised you dont know that...

By putting the battery in the passenger foot well or behind the center console, you automatically get the battery closer to the starter than it could be if it was in the engine bay.

Sure. And a direct passage through the firewall or the car body magically opens for you to run the cables too, right? If you are going to do surgery to the car, why not just put the battery right next to the starter, or make the battery an integral part of the starter.

If your vehicle starts from a new car battery then there's no need to move the battery closer to the starter.

Since there's only line-loss while the starter is working, those losses don't add up to much. :)

Seriously , stop with that know it all tone when you dont know a thing. I do not pretend knowing a lot on batteries. But i know my way around cars, so stop trying to prove me wrong on simple layout questions. You may have had a lot of RWD cars, but your messages show how you dont know much their engine layout. So dont come at me with that aggressive stance, or i will show you i can do that too.

Now go have a look at your firewall, and you will see various holes covered by rubber plugs. Most of them are there for RHD/LHD versions, and various optional components. Nothing that cant be replaced by a grommet. Of course it would be even better to use a solid, isolated connector, but i cant see a gromet with a cable being far worse than a rubber plug in case of fire.

And if you dont want to go through the firewall, you can even route through the gear lever hole .

Either way, it requires no cutting...
