Electric car chargers turned on for I-5 and Highway 2
Ten sites opened in the state this week where drivers can recharge electric cars on Interstate 5 and Highway 2.

Posted yesterday on Seattle Times:

Seven roadside charging stations on Interstate 5 and three on Highway 2 opened Wednesday, giving people the option to drive their electric cars across Washington state.

The free sites are funded by a $1.5 million federal stimulus grant, using equipment by AeroVironment, a publicly traded company.

One small step forward... KF 8)

I am incredibly psyched by the prospect of driving a future EV from Seattle to Snoqualmie, charging the EV while I hit the slopes, then cruising back to town with a topped off pack.

I am not so psyched about the utility of the system for getting from, say, Seattle to Portland, or Seattle to Vancouver, BC. It'd be possible but it'd be stupid and slow. I'd take the wife's Prius, rent a Zipcar, or hop on the Amtrak instead.
