Sure, as long as you're not stupid and lug the motor up hills til it slows down to 6 mph and groans. The bike really isn't going to run much faster. The 500W will allow it to accelerate a little better, Many of us change controllers to get a better display. and perhaps a better feeling pedal assist.

The reason I'm looking at the 500w KT controllers is that the 500w ones with the 9 pin motor connector are more available in my country than the 250w/350w 9 pin versions.

I think KT controllers are a good choice, The current based pedal assist is very smooth. The connectors are well documented, If you buy the better than basic display, you can reduce the power up to 50%.

Thanks. I will not be connecting the PAS connector. I pedal and use throttle to assist when needed.
