Watt Meters keep dying

The resistor is reading 2.03 on the 20k ohm scale and 1 on the 2k ohm scale.

I am guessing this means it is cactus?

no. it is ok. can you tell if the resistor has lifted off the trace and does it make connection with the transistor so you can read the same resistance on the leg of the transistor?
