Hi guys
Is it possible to blow a watt meter, if you overvolt it? The cheap generic watt meters are rated at 60V and 150A.
I remember using one briefly a few years ago and I THINK when the voltage was over 60V, it would work but just display up to the 60V.

yep, I did. I had the typical blue one you see but it was 60v 100amp. I was using it inline with my charger, 70v at 5 amp charge. so the voltage didn't work, I think it displayed 60v instead of 70v but it showed my charge at 5 amps and the final bit of charging as it went from 350 watts slowly tapering down to 50 watts. it worked 3 or 4 times then it didn't. I opened it up and one of the smd's were cooked.

I mistakenly hooked up a 60v max Watts Up meter to a 72v battery, and that was the last of it.

I think you might want to go back to some of your old threads, like this one, where you had the same problem:

This thread has info on the voltage problem; most of the wattmeters are some clone of these, which are themselves cheaper clones of the WattsUp.

There are plenty of other similar threads including some about repairing

I highly recommend the search function, especially *before* you do something, as it could help you not keep having the same problems over and over. ;)
