I have sent a pM to rockcursher a form modater to complain we are hated

I guess sometimes they hate me, but I'm long gone and can't hear them anyway.

Haters are suffering more than the hated on the long term.
Tell them electricity has no odour, and you are keeping ahead to avoid smelling their biogas.

Yes, we are. I thought you knew that.....?

Seriously, the MTBers are terrified that all the knuckle-heads who keep terrorizing hikers and horses on their MTBs will get ebikes and really trash their reputation and their trails. Read the forums over there: trails are always on the edge of closure due to conflicts between arrogant high-speed MTBers and other users. The one common worry is that the wild element in their ranks will discover 3000w ebikes and keep acting like they do already, only with 5hp electric motocross bicycles instead. There is a real self-policing issue in that sport where the lowest element takes over and sets the rules. Similar to the Bay Boys surfer gang that has been in the news lately......

Seriously?

Haters gonna hate, but the moment they steal or assault, they're not just haters, they're criminals. And unlike cagers who try to run you off the road and claim they didn't see you, it's hard to argue that they accidentally jammed a stick in your wheels.

Sure, the occasional electric MTBer is going to tear up the trail and ruin it for everyone else, but then so does the occasional pedal powered MTBer.

...yes we are hated by car drivers, roadies, MTBers, and especially the oil industry. No sense arguing with any of them until they decide to try one for themselves.

Doesn't surprise me. I own 200 acres with a trail network on it. I'm a dirtbiker, but let everybody use the trails - ATVs, hikers (the worst - litter like hell), horses, etc... except mountain bikers. Mountain bikers are the most pretentious group of all the multi-use community, so I kick them all out (while on my CR125 - they really hate that).

Don't believe it - even real dirtbikes do little to damage trails - tires run 10PSI, and even if there is roost, its typically thrown right back into the hole it came out of. ATVs make a mess, but horses are the absolute worst for damage - they generate like 5000PSI underfoot (not to mention poo). Hikers are next - they don't damage trails per se, but they leave behind all kinds of garbage - worst litterbugs of the entire trail use community.

I think the cause in MTBR is some guys just can not stand something new and too different. Some guys pretended to worry about safety but meanwhile mocking E-MTBR.
Actually some guys just worry E-MTBR don't chase their ass in their direction but develop other "trail".
In deep deep heard, they fear
The power they don't know and don't use.

Now the big brother is not happy as his brother does not follow his rule to play children game.

Consider that they might have had it up to here with motor traffic, that they go to the trails to escape motor traffic for a little while, and that many of the motorists who take to the trails on e-bikes probably bring their motorist callous disregard and inconsideration with them.

Certainly I've seen no shortage of bad attitudes about pedal cyclists here. I think it comes down to some of y'all chafing about them being more virtuous and committed than y'all are. I think that's why car drivers hate cyclists too-- they know the cyclists are doing right and they themselves are in the wrong. People hate it when they know you're better than they are.

There's nothing wrong with e-biking; let's be clear. But it is motoring, after all, and it would be nice to stick to permitted areas for motor vehicles.

Most if not all the so called MTBR trails in my area started out as game trails, with the dirt bikers and the horse people helping out. Flying around low level like I do, (in the plane, not going fast on the bike) I see trails all the time, everywhere, they are by and large game trails.

Being on the same trail, while riding the same way and speed, not making any noise, not going any faster other then not stopping to gasp for air, I don't see where the MTBR get off claiming these historically "multi use" trails are now their own. And....at least around here, they don't. I can see the hikers getting their panties in a wad when mountain bikes first came along, then got more or less accepted. The more populated parts of the country, and Idaho ain't one, I guess have a lot more pressure on their trails and less public lands, and if the trails were started by the MTBR's and not by others, I say they may have an argument. Duh..... When I come up behind a MTBR on a otherwise multi use trail I won't pass them, I'll take a break and let them get ahead, sure I could sprint past them and (maybe) kick dirt in their faces and if I did, I'd expect to be call an a hole. But with what seems to be the demographic of the e bikes users, a lot of old guys, I'd like to think we got that out of our system long ago, I'm just happy to be out there pedaling my ass off while getting a small boost when needed. If I was in my 20's I'd worry more about getting hassled by the MTBR's the same age, but being one of the oldest out there so far it has been no issue whatsoever. They cut me some slack I guess.

In a few years, this will all have been thrashed out, probably by the MTBR's being outnumbered by the e bikers.

Yup, i didn't realized earlier, but with a few acquaintances, they kinda nosed up when i started talking about the ebike and my 80 miles trips, and yes, they're the lycra type, very competitive and a bit psyco., with all with 2000$ regular bicycles.
