What are the difference between front/rear m/c rims?

So I am getting rims, and I struggle to find front alu rim.
Can I get 2 pro wheel rims that are actually for rear wheel and use one of those as my front wheel?

The prices are low and I would like to order but is it different angles for the drillings or what sets front/rear rim apart?
I think I saw one thread where one had ordered 2 rear mc rims and that he made it work but when I tried to find back to that thread I was not able to.

Front rim will be laced with bike spokes and mt hub if that matters.

There is no difference between front & rear rims. Front & rear wheels, yes. Front & rear hubs or hub motors, yes. But the rims themselves, or spokes, or tires or tubes, no difference what so ever. Get good rims, spokes, tires & tubes. They last longer and are safer on the road. Have you laced a hub before? If not, study up http://sheldonbrown.com/wheelbuild.html. Even if you have - always more to learn.

Thx. Are you sure about that?
Here from ebay:
NO MATCHING FRONT RIM AVAILABLE

So if I order 2 of these rims I will have no problem? These are left overs from pro wheel so I guess they are good quality rims.
Seems many ES members are riding on pro wheels.

Oh well I just placed the order. 35$ a pop. Hard to beat even if the color is ugly. But hey maybe I finally get to use those cans of plasti dip I got. Don't know if the color is yellow yellow of if it is more gold like the upper part of the fox fork. If color matches I guess I can live with that color if not I guess plasti dip is the answer.

Sorry was in a rush, here is the link

When they specify a particular motorcycle model it probably means that the front and rear are different widths or diameters. Rims meant for drum brakes might have the holes setup for a larger angle.

Here's the same Pro-wheel rim at Amazon for $107.98. Don't know why you want to spend $15 instead off eBay. Made with 7000 series aircraft quality aluminium alloy for motorcycles. 4" x 19". What are you putting these on? :?:

35 $ for each rim off ebay. The one you link to cost 107 for 1 rim. I would say 70 $ for two rims is a better deal.
Not sure yet on tires, but I might go for the classic shinko, maybe 244. Seems like they are fairly good price and all.

No, the reason they're sold as front and rear is because the nipple angles in the rim are different.

Rear's have angles to suit large diameter hub motors with 1 cross lace
Front's have angles to suit front bicycle hub diameters with a 3 cross lace

Well the rims are ordered and shipped. So I will need to live with the choice of saving some bucks.
Can I work around the front rim angle issues by using nipples and washers?

I will lace up front rim with 13 ga spokes and use a mtb hub.

From what I understand they are also different drilling angles. Rear hubs can be much larger than front hubs making for different spoke angles.

A year or two back Pro Wheels where the go to guy for people putting m/c rims on e-bikes.
I hope I will find a way to use those rims. I think rim quality is good and it is light made from aluminum.

The reason that those rims are listed as rear rims is that they are for a full sized dirt bike and the 19 inch rim would go on the rear and a 21 inch rim would go on the front. There are 19 inch front rims but they are 1.4 inches wide and are for the big wheel 85cc 2 strokes or 125 4 strokes. I believe they are call play bike rims.

The rims you bought are excellent and I am running them as well as many others. there is a M/C rim thread with all of the info you need.

The rims you bought are for 125cc 2 strokes or 250 4 strokes. Very strong rims. The rear rims for a 2250cc 2 stroke/450cc 4 stroke are 2.15 inches wide.

Regardless, you will have no issues running them on the front as well as the rear.

As to the ugly color, don't paint them. Dip them. The rubber coating is very durable and lasts longer than paint. Also, you will need to use washers with 13g spokes so get stainless steel washers. Lowe's sells them. The regular steel washers rust out fairly quickly.

here is a link to the thread you may find very helpful.
