I only have a 110v ac connection to my place. What would happen if I connect a washer n dryer that normal works with 220v? I’d like to believe it will wash n dry at half speed

You might have 240V. Check the hot wires of different circuits against each other. I've had outlets near window A/C units wired to two opposite phases.

Background: US standard is 120V rms, but usually delivered to homes as two split phases, 180° offset, that add up to 240V between the phases. Typically half your breakers/circuits are on one phase, and half on the other.
See Nervagon's thread, where he discovered the hard way that the neutral is considered optional by the power company...

(Expensive) option that will work: the Miele W1 and T1 both use 120V. The T1 is a heat pump dryer, really nice.

From my experience it won't run.
I bought a used Swedish washer and dryer. The washer plugs into the dryer with what would be a normal 120v plug. but with one blade at right angle to the other one. Someone had bent it to fit a normal 120v receptacle, and it didn't work (I know this because I tried it.) Suffice to say I got a deal on a like new washer and dryer. Going to 120v didn't burn anything up in my case.
