I got an ebike with a bad battery, and I'm trying to fix it, looking at the battery connection, I got possitive/negative and grey wire.

what the hell is that? and what kind of voltage would it take?

see picture below.

I tried connecting the battery without this wire and it doesn't work, the control lights up but I can't change any settings.

When I pedal no power from motor.

Thank you in advance for you help!!!.

Sorry it was late last night and didn't realized the pictures didn't attached.

a little more info.

Panasonic NUAO12C 250W mid drive motor

I haven't tried to meter it, not sure how? that pin is connected to the battery but I'm not sure if it's a sensor pin or power pin?

Insufficient data.

Does the gray wire show a voltage to ground, or to positive, when you meter it?

If you tell us more about the bike and battery, then maybe someone here has direct experience with it and can offer help.

Photos are useful in this regard.

Go look at the battery connector diagram here:

and the charger info here:

and see if they're anything like yours.
Those motors do use a 3-blade battery connector as shown here:

Thank you, I was able to find some more info this morning as well.

Looks like it's a 26V drive 250W unit. I did plugged in a 36V battery yesterday, hopefully I didn't fry anything...

I have been informed that these things will not operate over 29.X volt, so that could be my issue of it not working...

Waiting for some electrical plugs to arrive and retest at 25V and see if things will be better... if it all works I'll get a 7S lithium system on here and charge it at 4.12 volts to keep it within specs.

Will keep you guys updated, this was a decent bike that I overpaid for without doing much research... live and learn lol.

Thanks again, this was very helpful. Got the required parts today and everything worked. Only thing that doesn't work is the battery indicator. Beautiful mid drive bike that is working great again because of your help.
