I double-checked everything. Wheel circumference, pack voltage, # of poles, making sure it was not a transient spike. it indeed was 76mph at 87v, which works out to 1.28kph/v. Thinking I might have a 5303 on my hands instead, I multiplied 1.28 by 3/4, and sure enough, 0.96kph/v. I emailed Justin with these results and he agrees; it's highly likely that I have a 5303 instead of a 5304. It was the last x5 they had in stock, in Feb, and he had to re-lace it from a 20" into a 26" for me. Looks like I got something other than what I ordered.

No matter, though... I'll just put it in a 20" rim and run it at 112v.

me I plan on seeing 25-30mph out of my 20" E-bike any more then that is too fast for my local cops to deal with and since I want people to be intrested in my bikes and my Bizz that will soon be up and running, I dont want to start it by pissing off the local cops that think of me as a new aged "Tesla" on my crazy electric contaraptions

by the way any one see the movie "There will be blood" if you like 1920's movies take a look..Me I love the industial revolution my self every where was easy money back then to look at it now 8)

Craig, I think you need to do a motorcycle.

I think we all must do a motocycle!
Donor bike: $500-750 (less then $250 if the motor is blown)
Electric motor: $300-800
Batteries: $200-300
Controller: $1 a watt

Conversion time: About a weekend!
Travil time: 20-30miles!
Speed: 45-60mph with out gear box(with a gear box, expect to see stupid speed!)

WTF how you gonna get 30 miles range with $200-$300 of batteries? :?

any one can with a good clue on what to look for and if you have a gear box as well(I was talking about lead acid batteries, not dry cells)

Shit I get 10miles from just $40 worth of batteries!

I figured you were. But I still don't know where to get new SLAs for that cheap. :?

figure that 3 sla's cost about 75-100 each and that is my numbers....

Now if you want to spend $100 per 3.5volts@100ah get a $2000 battery pack, it dont matter to me, I was just say'ing motorcycles are the cheepest way to get a head turning EV together for a total package for under $1500-2000 for a non sporty EVcycle and up to $4000 on a sporty ass bike that will even impress the most snobby or hardcore biker alike

Why my top speed is 20Mph officer unless I pedal. Why, what speed did you radar gun me at? Oh you didn't. Well...... You'd like to try it to see the top speed yourself? No sorry officer not without a court order. Anything else officer. Well good day.

Top speed GM 500w rear motor 36v 10ah lifepo pack 60lb bike and load of 200lbs is 23mph with pedals and 20mph without on level ground. Will do better when I get the 48v battery pack. Looking for more from my next build which is in the werqs. Now 48 volts so 25+ without pedaling and takes on most hills at 16-18 mph.

my E150 Razor scooter is now up to 17mph@5ft of take off topps out after that, but tomarrow I will have some tall gears on it and see what happends with a motor twice the size on it as well(now 500w after tonight 1000w36v running on 48v) geared to a 1/2 gear ratio!!!!!!!!30+mph is the goal

we hit 64mph on the eVFR a couple weeks ago... very very fun.

here's a video of ~50mph:

51 mph. BTW, why would you want to go that fast on a bike anyways? I just like the 0-40 acceleration time of ~ 15 seconds. Keep it below 40 on the roads, or else the cops will notice and laws will become more strict.

very true words......we dont want to paint our selfs into a corner now do we...

0-40 in 15 seconds....whuaaaaaaaaa! :p

Crystalyte Journey kit on old mountian bike. 408 rear wheel with 36v 8mah Nimh. At full charge I can go about 18 and it begins to decline as my voltage goes down. After 20 miles the top speed w/o pedaling is 13-14mph.

Good move I reckon. Better still, limit top speed of any UK vehicle to 80mph maximum and then watch the petrol consumption fall! Most vehicles here can do over 100MPH, many over 130...

I'm a hypocrite of course, saying this whilst simultaneously building a 130mph+ electric Ducati

Great point.

If the top speed in the uk is 70mph why are cars made with the ability to exceed this easily???
does the same rational apply to ebikes also? speed limit is 20mph so as long as your not doing more at the time of speed checking is your bike legal even though it's capable of nearer 50mph?
one rule for one, one for another i'm afraid
of course if the Gov could find a way to tax your ebike, road tax, insurance, electricity tax lol etc then im sure they wouldn't mind eh?????

Cheers,

D
