Hi Friends!!!

I wonder if any company or individual, makes based on A123, battery of 48V 20ah, or other voltages, with BMS and, charger.

What price do you have?

If no one makes, why?

I am sorry for my english!!

As far as I know - They don't exist.

You'll have to build your own by taking apart some Dewalt 36V Battery Packs (mostly bought on ebay or from Dewalt Suppliers: see this site for a good deal ($124/pack including shipping):

http://www.nationwidetool.com/store/p-168-dewalt-36v-battery-pack-dc9360-new.aspx

You may also buy single A123 M1 Cells, but they are more expensive per cell.

You can find approaches to building your own here in this forum.

I do not understand why nobody sells packs based on A123

Besides they are expensive, are suitable for e-bikes?

Regards

They are suitable fir ebikes, but their price is very prohibitive for most. A123 cells seem like a good choice for someone wanting to build an off-road ebike for mountain biking, or jumping because they can provide the power when needed, and you don't have to carry such a huge amount of batteries to get that power. Having 20ah of A123 would be almost a waste, you couldn't use them at more than 3-4c on a bike very easily, so at those rates, using cheaper cells, and getting more capacity seems like a better idea.

These guys do: http://www.evdrive.com/index.html

They've been building their own A123 based packs for electric motorcross prototypes and an electric BMW 3-series. I understand they have also built and delivered packs (with custom BMS) to University teams for various EV competitions.

To summarize:

A123 Packs: very expensive, very powerful blow, and little autonomy?

I'm going to see Bob this Sunday for a little while. Need to weld some 26650 cells :) not A123, but close to it....

Tell us about their operation. I see their CNC parts and start to drool. I suspect your visit has something to do with the TTPGX entry, good luck in the race! :D

Where do they get the time/money/equipment to have so much fun?

The Honda motocross bike looks great but the market for an electric version would have to be very small considering the time and money they'd have to sink into each one. Their retail price would have to be through the roof to make it worthwhile.

I will, I don't think they're a production company, they're working with another company on BMS for the A123 stuff... the goals are much much higher than just packs.....

This definitely has something to do with the TTXGP race... he's helping us with the packs....

Hi,

If you don't read the entire thread be sure to check here (fairly simple DIY A123 example):
