I thought we could use a better poll on this subject.
Select whether you own or want an e-bike, and choose the best fit for why.
If your status changes you can modify your vote.

How about "To save money" ???
Do you think that fits with the replace a car for some commuting and errands? I'll modify that option.

I can see how hard it is to make a good survey.

It is a good point to note that you save time, too. I have noticed that as errands get shorter and smaller (involving less stuff), they get faster to on the eBike. Parking is easier and faster (I roll up to the door), I get in and around traffic and parking lots faster, and I can get between multiple locations in a large plaza or mall faster.

Yeah only two options limited my selection so I left out the I own an e-bike or 2 or 3....

Looks like v2.0 is still in beta....

Good start tho.

@dirtdad: Good surveys are good science: Difficult, but worth millions, properly applied. 8)

Maybe I will add 3 selections, so you can choose if you own and 2 reasons why, or just 3 reasons why. more than 3 would be a bit chaotic I think.
Crap I messed it up, I removed the Want/own option since it will mess up the percentages, I think 2 options is enough now.

I chose for fun, the bonus is we can ride around the hood without angering any grumpy old neighbors or waking up any napping babies. :D

I'm still close to being all of the above. If I could choose three, fun would have made the list.

I haven't made any selections yet as we're not allowed to check all....makes it difficult. To be honest I don't think I can narrow it down to just two choices. Some of the choices seem to tie or lead into other choices such as #1 and#2.

Due to physical and medical limitations I need the electric assist to get exersise and get into better shape.

#6 & #7 tie in together as well...

Oh and I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud here to make things difficult for the survey!

I guess just pick the 2 best fit. If you ride to get into shape, choose option 2, but if you ride to get into shape due to a physical or medical limitation, choose one(or one and two). If every one can pick everything, it wont be very informative, so far we have a nice spread. I realize everyone will have many reasons, but I guess I am looking for the main motivation that made you get an e-bike in the first place. But you can look at it however you like.

Options #7 & 8 fer me. I'm saving $300 a month, $500 car cost and $200 bike cost, with all associated expenses figured in.

Where's the option for ebike to replace public transit?
My first scoot paid for itself in the first four months on not buying a monthly transit pass... guess that falls under the missing "save money" category...
tks

#1 and #7 for me plus i love riding these things, iv talked to two officers here in portland and had no problem at all with riding my bike around town execpt for the dumb security guard at mall 205 omg what an A$$ any way i havent drove my car sense and am saving 400 dollars a month now! yippy!

If I could have a gas bike as quiet and non-smelly as my ebike, I prolly wouldn't have an ebike.. so I guess as well as "fun" I'd put down the missing "noise and smell" category. It is great fun to rip around the desert with a brapp'in ICE, but around the neighborhood that wouldn't fly. And to get out to any trails can take an hour or more drive if you're in an urban area, which sucks..

It’s my only means of transportation. Once I regain my driver’s license, I’ll use my e-bike as much as I can because it is near ideal transportation and I don't have to peddle. :D

These things are fun!

There are a bunch of reasons:

It takes up less space in the garage or driveway than a second car would have.

It is lighter and easier to store than a motorcycle.

Very little maintenance.

No noise.

Can still ride the bike trails.

Four wheelers get less frustrated with me in traffic. Sometimes I catch them pacing me to find out how fast I am going.
