Window AC converted to remote package unit (central ac) see page 9

Guessing HP is Heat Pump?

Here Buffalo NY. We really only need AC for about 2 weeks a year. Got a nice grainger.com window fan. Blow air out at night and house cools off.

My dream house. A enthalpy gadget that switches between AC and automatic opening windows with exhaust fan according to outside temperature and humidity. Got this idea from the commercial HVAC guy. Picture big units on the roof. I told him, beautiful summer night 64 degrees, low humidity. Commercial building is hot from people, electric lights, etc. Lets bring some outside air in. He show me a big door on the big green roof unit. He explain enthalpy to me.

To make this happen? Technical Guys at:
Are very helpful.

What Are Heat Pump Air Conditioners?

Used to read your thread but was off for a year or two. Used to think what is he doing. Now believe that you have been on the right track all the while. AC has been on the forefront of my mind for over ten years now and have moved in with my mother to take care of her, can not hardly take care of myself lol.

Live in San Antonio, Texas, down here we not only battle heat but high humidity. If you achieve 45-50% humidity you are doing good. The lower the humidity the higher tempter you will be comfortable with. My house will go to 70% if not watched close. Do different things to get it back down.

Was in the process of installing minisplits in the house to replace the central AC main reason was every year is hotter and cost per Kw is going up. So the electric bill climbs every summer. The last bill with the central AC was $225, the average here is $400. We try to keep it under $200. I believe that Central AC's waste to much money same tonnage of minisplits would save 30% of cooling cost.

Wanted to share about a new window AC that was bought last year when the central AC stopped working at the end of Summer.
The search found a 12000btu LG unit that used 7.8a. This is 30% less than other units. It is using the new refrigerant R-32 and R-454B and compressor. Homedepot had it so it cost more $500. Unit is 9 months old this year. has energy saving feature that is better than others. Most wait until unit gets room tempter to turn back on this one samples the Air every few mins which keeps the room tempter more even. The last LG window unit is a 6000btu in the Gurage over 10yr old and still works.

Currently believe that the typical AC systems have had their day like ICE. The issues abound, my mothers AC system had flexible ducts in the attic and had to blow air up to 30ft. My mother told me of $500 electric bills with this unit. We kept the tempter at 78-79 deg to keep the bill around $200 that became impossible.
7.8 amps is very good.:bigthumb: mine is 9.8. I tore out the controls and, since it is the attic, i use a relay on/off. set fan on medium. I'll be posting my bills as they come in, to compare with previous years. My entire year is about $360 for kwh's. So much lower here due to sea breeze.
I'm encouraged by my 1st 93F day as it ran 7 hrs vs 10-12 hrs for my previous test system which was 10 amps.

I'm waiting on my first bill using the mini splits installed this winter. Just finished the installing just before the heat hit. Installed them by hiring different people for different jobs. Plummer for the copper lines, electrician for the electrical. The HVAC companies wanted 10k per unit.
Have been buying BOSCH climate 5000 9000btu. Have three now. First one purchased for my room 7yrs ago but going to replace it in the next month, it still works but inside fan and compressor are making noise. Have a new one in boxes in front room.
They are 220v 3.6a so three would be 2 1/4 ton using 21a 110v you can add the window unit I turn on if it gets above 100 deg but it does not run much. so lets add the 8a and 21a for 3 1/4 ton at less than 29a. The central AC not sure how much it used but was on 70a worth of breakers. 40a for compressor and 30a for blower fan. Most KW used in one day with it was 60.

Last year when the central AC went out and I installed the Window unit with the mini split in my room. The house was barely comfortable and my mothers room hot. That was 21000 btu. The electric bill went form $225 to $135.
