Greetings fellow ebikers. I am the not so proud owner of a 2023 Wired Freedom that loves to test me. Pretty much every part of this bike has literally broke off, burned out, or quit working. I kid you not, this bike has been nickle diming me since the day UPS kicked it off the back of their Truck as they drove by my house. My latest project is the replacement of it's burned out controller, a BMS for the battery and fabrication of some new wiring to replace the wires that dried up and turned to egg shell type material. My question for any and all pertains to the motor plug. Wired has 2 extra wires. They are hall size wires that my KT controller doesn't have. I have the 6 matching wires but Wired has a purple and gray wire in the motor plug also. Anyone know what those 2 wires are for. My first guess was temp sensor? Any help would be greatly appreciated

You probably only need the 6 conductors to run the motor, assuming one of the 6 is a white wire for the speed sensor. A temp sensor would be a reasonable guess for one or even the two extra wires.
You could test the resistance between the two conductors. On my motor, the temp sensor is wired to ground (in the motor, the same ground from the halls), with one conductor exiting the motor. So in that case resistance can be measured between ground and one of the two unknown conductors. So three readings. Then put the motor in cooler or hotter location and remeasure to see if any of the resistance change, which would indicate if it’s temp sensor wiring, and possibly the type.

PS you should probably delete your duplicate post so it doesn’t have the potential of causing confusion.
