    Weight Weenie Ebike

Which torque sensing system did you ride? The Bosch generation 2 that I tried was instant - indeed an advantage of a decent torque sensing system is that the pedals don't need to be turning at all for it to measure and register torque input and therefore start providing proportional assist...

    Weight Weenie Ebike

Some interesting discussion. I think we're moving away from the idea of a "weight weenie ebike", the ethos of which is a bike as lightweight as possible. E-Zero's FX-E singlEspeed on this forum (link here) is a true example of a weight weenie at 12kg based on a Q100 and with a 10S 5Ah battery...

    Weight Weenie Ebike

Actually that kit is 4.3kg (9.5 pounds) including the mains charger - the stuff on the bike weighs 3.7kg (8.15 pounds). That makes it reasonably similar to the guessed weights for the Q100 in the spreadsheet. However the battery is 9.3Ah rather than 5Ah and includes mounting weight, whereas I...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion & long distance commuting

Mainly aesthetics. I wanted the bike to look good and be fairly stealthy, and I'm not too keen on the bottle batteries. I need some carrying capacity anyway for my commuting gear and clothes and having run with a lightweight rack and single pannier on my road bike I much preferred the look of...

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion & long distance commuting

Here's the review I put on the UK site at the beginning of June. The bike is actually now at 1,900 miles so I'll put up a 2k review soon. 1,000 mile review Well, the bike’s now done a thousand miles (actually about 1,300) so how is it working out? Motor The BBS01 continues to perform with...

    Weight Weenie Ebike

The weights already given are for the BBS01. Yes, the BBS02 is half a kilo heavier and also it needs 13S batteries (if you get the 750W version) which adds more weight.

    Weight Weenie Ebike

As tln says, this thread has all the weights for the BBS01. It isn't really a weight weenie option - whilst the motor and controller unit itself is 3.8kg all the other necessary components aren't featherweights. You will be replacing crank arms and chainrings with some fairly weighty items...

    Max battery voltage for BBS01 250W ?

Exactly as Nobuo says, you can't use a higher voltage. Mind you, I don't think you'd need to. The 250W has quite a bit of poke - I use one for a 40 mile round trip commute into London (build thread here). Reprogramming the motor can make it both more natural to use and more powerful if you...

    Bafang bbs02 / bent frame

Sorry to hear of your problems. The Milliput was easy to use, and as for how it works - well, I've not had any frame issues so I guess that's a positive! Michael

    788 spot welder

I have a 788+ which performed faultlessly welding up my 10S4P pack here in the UK (so on 240V). Nothing more to add really - didn't have any problems at all and it produced consistent, strong welds. Definitely dual pulse, and I put three welds on each joint so wasn't hanging about. I've no...

Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

I can pretty much do that, except it's only a 11.6Ah battery. Cube SL Road Pro with BBS01 250W conversion, 18Kg with Vittoria Voyager Hyper tyres. I've modified the programming to give 100% assistance via PAS and removed the throttle. I have 5 levels of assist and use it almost exclusively...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I had a slightly similar issue with mine and it was the brake sensors. Thread about it here.It may not be the same issue but mine affected the speed sensor light as well (went off rather than on). Michael

    Bafang 8fun pedal play

Are you talking about the ratchet on the freewheel? You can turn the pedals backwards with the chainring not moving, and you hear the click of a large internal freewheel whilst you do so. If you're between rachet stops on the freewheel when you try to pedal forward again the pedals will have to...

    18650 pack safety

Cwah, is this for your 11 mile each way commute in London!? If so, why are you building a pack that big? I'm commuting 20 miles each way into London and using a 10s4p pack of the same cells you are using. Yes I am recharging at work because I use half the capacity on each leg, but 11 miles each...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Do put up a picture of you can - would be interesting to see. Have you got it interrupting on down and upshift or just downshift? Michael

BBS01 Cube SL Road Pro conversion & long distance commuting

I have a 20 mile each way commute in the UK and in recent years I’ve generally been driving half way and then cycling the rest. Thanks to a very useful demonstration last year from one of the local ebike suppliers I found it would be perfectly possible to use an ebike for the entire journey...

BBS01 brake cutout working on throttle, not on PAS

I'm not the only person who has had this problem with the brake sensors. One of the users on the UK Pedelecs forum where I am a member had exactly the same symptoms, with the same sensors bought from the same supplier. To use his words in this post "my original setup did work when the thumb...

    Bafang with power levels

If you want to optimise wind resistance completely you could convert a recumbent with a crank drive. That way you could keep the standard Bafang setup and commute in a bit more comfort as well. Have been tempted myself but the family isn't too keen as there can be a bit of traffic about!

    BB drive to pedal generator

I see. However surely in this circumstance you are using kilowatts of power to just maintain your speed (to take it out of the gear range of the bike), in which case adding 70-80 watts back into the battery through your pedalling isn't going to increase range that much. It will only be useful in...

Spot Welder Crisis: Buy, Borrow, Build?

Yup, you'd be quite right - mine's running on UK mains voltage (240V). They do a 110V version of the 788+ but I don't know anything about it. Michael

+1 on this. Couldn't have put it better.

    Bafang BBSHD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

Sure. The varying levels of assist on Bosch motors define the ratio between rider input and electric assistance, but is nothing to do with the peak power available. The maximum assist level is 275% (on the Gen 2 Performance Line motors), i.e. the motor puts in 275% of the rider input. If the...

Spot Welder Crisis: Buy, Borrow, Build?

I bough a 788+ spot welder from China for not much over £100. It performed perfectly for welding up my pack. Longevity isn't proven, but performance is. Might that be an option? Michael

    Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

There are two freewheels inside the BBS01 and 02 motors. One is on the main crankshaft and allows the crankshaft to turn even when the pedals are stationary. This one clicks. The other freewheel (which is silent) is on the intermediate shaft and allows the pedals, crankshaft and intermediate...
