Bafang FM 311 replacement

Good day bikers, i’m trying to find out what front motor could work as a replacement of Bafang 311. Or is the controller specific for each model?

You can use any hub motor. The best would be to choose one with similar diameter of circle with spoke holes.

I’m just asking if anything else could work because i can get other brands of motors much cheaper than bafang but one noname hub i tried didn’t work

Much cheaper sounds good. They're likely single stage gear reductions with less torque though, unless you feed them more juice.

Your no name motor should work with whatever controller you have, if you get the phase and hall combinations correct.

Thanks,then it’s probably something wrong also with the controller. The motor makes weird noises, is it usually happening that controller brakes down together with the motor?

What happened just before all the problems started?

What tests were done that determined the motor had failed?

I didn’t do diagnostic,i just tried to access settings menu on the display and it throws error code 28 or 31. Anyways the bike has almost 10.000km in pretty rainy climate so i’m not surprised that the motor died
