I am interested in a waterproof charger, and I have been looking at these OEM looking units:

Is there anyone here with experience in these? I want to know if they are adjustable?
I would like to easily adjust voltage and current. There are 2 models, with can or without.
I suppose the can version is adjustable over can, but that doesn't sound easy to me.. I am more interested in the version without can.

There is also another, cheaper model that looks more aftermarket:

Thanks, but there isn't much there that seems to apply to this model, just some for sale ads.
 
I want to get one of the TC chargers too, but don't have the expertise to create a CAN device to communicate with the BMS and the charger.

It sounds like there might be an analog input that can be used with the non-CAN version, but no idea whether it controls current or voltage. :( Maybe you could ask the seller to see what configuration options are available?

The TC / Elcon chargers can be controlled either via an on/off signal, a CANbus interface or via a 2-5V analog input.

Nice info, so it seems there can at least be adjustable current on this analog input (if it is available) :)
I would like adjustable voltage as well, but it is sure better than nothing.
I have sent a question to the seller today, but I haven't heard back.
I guess we will see on Monday if I get a useful reply..
 
I got a reply today, so that is something at least.
My question was:
"Hi I am interested in the TC/ Eltec charger HK-MF-108-32. I plan to use it for charging 30s Li-ion batteries, but I wonder how do I adjust output voltage and current? Can I switch between charge profiles or something like that?"

And the answer was:

"Hi , This is Lucky from Deligreen . please send the following infomations to us(1) battery type: (2) number of cells in series: (3) capacity of battery pack(AH): (4) The maximum charge voltage: (5) AC input volt and plug: (6) with CAN or enable: (7) if with CAN, tell us the BMS brand: Our charger can work with EMUS, Orion, and many other BMS made in China like Ligoo BMS. (9) Air-cooling as default"

I answered their questions and repeated mine. I also tried to make it clearer by asking if it was possible to sometimes charge with 126V and 32A, and sometimes 124V and 17A for example. I guess we will see what kind of reply I will get..

So I guess it is just to take it for what it is, or find a way to control the can model.
 
Controling the can model should be no big deal as long as they provide the can codes needed for controling their charger.

I think this is it.(it is supposed to be a file attached) What I want is a charger where I can flip a switch or turn a knob to choose another setting. Not connect a computer and reprogram or similar. Can that be done on something like this?

At least you need a ESP or Arduino and a CAN adapter for it and a DCDC to get the right voltage for the micro from the chargers output. On the micro you can ad switches for different settings.

You send your desired voltage/current to 0x18FF50E5 and that should be all, probably you have to set a max voltage before
 
The charger has a 12v output, not sure if it is active without can messages though.
However, I am far from able to get an Arduino or similar to do what I want.

Me too.
I always found someone who had the same needs and made a second one for me.

But for someone who has done a few small projects this should be no big deal.

No, I asked several times what current, end voltage, if it will stop charging when the current drops under a certain voltage and things like that. I wasn't able to get an answer for any of it, so I passed.
It says a current in the specs, but it also says 3.3kw. So I asked wich it will be, will it charge 32A (or what it was) or 3.3kw? But I didn't get an answer. Oly that it depends on 240V or 120V input etc. even after I specified 240V.
 
I have seen those chargers on evwest.com. The person I talk with there was very nice.. Maybe you can ask there.

I'm also interested in these chargers. I would probably be able to do the arduino side of it to control it over CAN. Mostly interested in how big and heavy they are and how easy they are to get and for what price. I found a wholesale dealer on alibaba where you can order a single test model, but would prefer a source in the EU because of warranty and so on: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/TC-Elcon-Charger-HK-MF-72_1600692743006.html (this is a 3.3 kW model for 72V battery).

The ones I looked at came with connectors if I'm not mistaken. It is specified in the manual what to use otherwise.( Low voltage connection: P/N: 348302001 Brand: Molex, Ac input: P/N: HVSL633023A Brand: Amphenol, OBC output: P/N: HVSL362022A Brand: Amphenol)
It would be interesting to see how you get it to work :)

I made up some connectors for now, got a canbus adapter using it with savvy can software ,got it to read canbus messages ,now looking into using tunerstudio tsdash for cluster gauge, would also like information if anyone has used tsdash with fardriver nd96850 using one wire,,purple I think
 
Yes, but I think it is just one phase. So probably about 30A 220V? Very inconvenient, should be 2 or 3 phase with that power.
Yes it is specified for 240V 32A input. I agree a 3 phase input would be nice, but I have not found a better charger yet. Let me know if you see one.

240V 32A is fine for Europe, though, because standard Type 2 chargers can deliver that (in theory).
