Hello.
I am planning a custom build on an old bike from 2009. I want to use the Tongsheng TSDZ16 kit and I am looking for a battery that will suit it. I want to stay away from Chinese brands from Aliexpress, but since I am in the EU (Czech republic), I don´t have many options.

I have narrowed it down to two batteries and I would like to ask if they are a good fit for the TSDZ16. Also, if I do decide to look at AliExpress, are there any specific brands there that actually have good quality control and can be fully relied upon?

I have narrowed it down to two batteries. What concerns me regarding both batteries I chose is that neither offers a continuous discharge current higher than 25A. I have read elsewhere that Tongsheng requires at least 30A, or even 40A, specifically to handle the motor's peak power. Could you advise if this might cause any issues?

First battery is from local seller: Akumulátor Li-ion 48V, 20,3Ah, LG Elephant.
  • Nominal capacity: 20.3Ah (974Wh)
  • Maximum discharge current: 40A (15s)
  • Maximum continuous discharge current: 25A
  • Standard charge current: 2A
  • Maximum charge current: 5A
  • Charging time at standard charge current: 10 hours
  • Charging time at fast charging (4A): 5 hours
  • Cells: LG Chem M29
  • Charging temperature range: 0-45°C
  • Discharging temperature range: -10°C-50°C
  • Protections: (overcurrent, undervoltage, overcharge, short circuit, thermal protection)
  • Balancing circuit: YES
  • Charging connector: ST3-Pin
  • Battery weight (including BMS board): 5300g
  • Dimensions: 365x140x85mm
  • Lifespan (capacity degradation): 500 cycles*, when capacity remains greater than 70% of nominal
  • Warranty: 24 months
  • Accessories: mounting rail, lock and key

Second battery is from abroad seller: https://enerprof.de/en/products/enerpower-rahmenakku-megiddo-48v-20ah-bms-20a-960wh
  • Li-ion cell: Samsung SDI INR21700-50E
  • Voltage (nominal): 48V
  • Capacity: 20Wh
  • Energy: 960Wh
  • Configuration: 13S4P
  • Internal resistance: < 75 mOhm
  • charging voltage: 54.6V
  • final discharge voltage: 39V
  • BMS continuous discharge current: 22A
  • BMS 10 Min. Discharge current: 25A
  • BMS 5 seconds discharge current: 30A
  • Fuse: 30A
  • Weight: approx. 4.30 kg (without bracket)
  • Charging: Znit IP67 3-Pins
  • Discharging: Cable with fuse 30A with XT60, XT90 or Anderson high current connector)
Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.

You could just get the whole kit with battery from Varstrom. I believe they ship to the Czech Republic.

They are one of the main global suppliers of tongsheng motors and from what I've seen they have good warranty policies.

Both options you have listed are fine, but a continuous discharge rating of 30A would be recommended due to the power of the TSDZ16

I noticed that their 48v 20Ah pack is the same price as their 52v 20Ah pack, same Samsung cells, so more power and more cells for the same price; seems like an easy choice.
