    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Not a neophobic. Yes I have used it, but switched to SRAM xo/xx mix for my xc, and SRAM Force/red for the road bikes. Commuters are still shimano. The SRAM stuff was kind of an offer I couldn't refuse. I also understand why manufacturers eventually push into non-compatible designs, both from a...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

my understanding is that the cassette itself is cross compatible. The chain now is assymetrical

You're talking about the dynasys crap, yes those have a different cable pull. Luckily they still have all the shadow, etc components in 10 speed that don't have that issue. Here's a great reference on this stuff: http://sheldonbrown.com/speeds.html

fair enough-- shimano to shimano, SRAM to sram, Campy to campy. SRAM has their "1:1" which isn't compatible with some of the lower stuff, but Shimano seems to be remarkably more standard (with a few nutty side tracks with some DA parts). My road bikes are all SRAM, but the MTBs (until...

go clutched rd The rear derailleurs don't care what number of speeds you are running, especially if you are going down in the number of cogs. We have bikes in our house that run " 8speed" derailleurs on 10 speed cassettes...they're a dumb part. They do care if you get beyond the chain wrap...

The lock nuts are the old style BB nuts. I think the very early Shimano cartridge BBs used the same. Luckily i had one still sitting around (though it was buried in some old parts box deep in the garage). Dead easy to tighten properly with the right tool. As others have said careful use of a...

Its not going to render the frame useless. worst case you have to face and chase the bb shell, no biggee. should be done on most frames anyway as the bb shell faces are rarely parallel. Five minutes and your bb will last so much longer.

Here's a couple of photos of my Yuba build. Still a bit to go- replace battery bag with a Starboard box (love that stuff), and a French forum obtained 104bcd spider w/ 44 tooth. I love this kit, tames my two 20% grade hills (they're short)- and makes my commute a joy. THe PAS levels are kinda...

    Bafang BBS01 problem

When i installed i was getting error 30. Lcrewse told me that the error30 was a bad connection somewhere. i had misaligned the three prong connection for the wheel sensor. That one connection has this little flat spot for alignment, rather than a channel. Once i aligned that all was good.

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

The shorter, wider diameter spindles are actually to increase stiffness, the hollowing and materials choices ( mostly hollow spindles and hollow carbon crank arms now) are to save weight. Lately the focus is primarily stiffness, these things trickle down from road racing which has a UCI mandated...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Nearly finished my rebuild of my Yuba Mundo with the bafang 750w with a twist shift. Build is dead easy, basically like replacing a BB. Had one snafu with a cable not all the way connected, but sorted that out easily. I know most of you are concerned with top speed, but for me it is the hill...

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Got the kit yesterday, and have it mounted, black motor looks beautiful on the black Mundo. needed some new cables and such, but if you want to take a drive up north a bit on Sunday it should be ready for its maiden flight.
