    RC Motor Turns and kv

yeh that makes sense. more turns, means smaller wires in the same space = less amps. are the watt ratings the same for all the configs? so...i guess that means a higher voltage ratings for higher turn counts. i tried asking astro fore more specific info on the diff versions but they only...

    RC Motor Turns and kv

So I'm trying to put together a RC bike kit and I am wondering about how to choose the best config for a motor. I'm specifically wondering about astro 3220 motors. It looks likes alot of builds are based on the 4 turn version but why not go for a higher turn count, get a lower kv and have less...

    Cyclone 900W build

wow it's been 4 years since i built my bike. update time. My cyclone kit is still holding up pretty well. I only made a few changes to the drive configuration. I upgraded the crank freewheel to the white industries heavy duty version and geared my center to 44/30. That gives me a top speed of...

    Cyclone Issue.

sounds like you're pulling a huge load. how's your gearing set up? bms info if possible?

I guess we've been holding out long enough...

nice trike! that would be pretty sick with a motor. :D :D

    Made the plunge.

i wondered about that myself but the packs didn't seem to be bothered by it. but yeh it definitely isn't a great idea to strain two batts like that. i have a couple more packs that i'm gonna add once i get a new case for 'em.

    Basic reduction question.

rc motors run at high kv's thus require the reduction. typically you'll see 150-250 kv around here. @36V a 250kv motor runs at 9000 rpm. 20mph is ~260 rpm for a 26in wheel. that'll require a 34 to 1 reduction. you'd probably want to reduce for about 60mph = 12 to 1 reduction, 800rpm for a...

The Cyclone Thread. cyclone users report here!!

the easiest way would be to set up a mid drive + crank reduction like the cyclone 3piece freewheel crank kit...but then your bike would have some unused bits on it lol. your next option would be to setup the motor in the current config for certain speed range. for example: you could set it up...

    Chassis development versus power development......

I say chassis development at this point in time. it looks like you know how to manage the power quite nicely already .

    Made the plunge.

cool stuff. we'll need some pics though lol. funny you mention 10ah not being enough battery. i'm actually using 2 bosch fatpacks for a total of 4.4AH at 36V, lol. gave me a range of about 5 miles.

The Cyclone Thread. cyclone users report here!!

i think the cyclone motors are pretty awesome considering their performance/ price. they are simple mid drive kits that allow you to take advantage of your gears (which is why i chose it over a hub motor). if you don't use your regular gears than just get a hub motor cause it'll be simpler...

oh man, nice work! i can see why eno isn't willing to front the tooling cost. who's the market in these? mainly just us hahaha.
