    rc motors run at high kv's thus require the reduction. typically you'll see 150-250 kv around here. @36V a 250kv motor runs at 9000 rpm. 20mph is ~260 rpm for a 26in wheel. that'll require a 34 to 1 reduction. you'd probably want to reduce for about 60mph = 12 to 1 reduction, 800rpm for a...

    cool stuff. we'll need some pics though lol. funny you mention 10ah not being enough battery. i'm actually using 2 bosch fatpacks for a total of 4.4AH at 36V, lol. gave me a range of about 5 miles.

    i think the cyclone motors are pretty awesome considering their performance/ price. they are simple mid drive kits that allow you to take advantage of your gears (which is why i chose it over a hub motor). if you don't use your regular gears than just get a hub motor cause it'll be simpler...

    on second thought i think it makes sense that you could move the chain over to the 2nd 44 tooth and have a better pedaling speed, if the motor ever quits on you. oh well, its already gone on my setup lol.

    There actually doesn't seem to be a logical reason for the extra 44 tooth chain ring. I converted mine to 2 chain rings when i replaced that freewheel with the white industries version.

    I'm looking for a 36v 10ah pack at least. I saw the headway packs stop at 10ah. I do appreciate the pre-made packs but there is just the fun of making your own. I'm interested in the fatpacks because they do not require a complicated bms and offer a good price point for the power.
