Hi all,
I have an older Infineon clone, a Xie Chang I think it's the manufacturer. I hooked it up to a Kuberg Freerider in working on. I ride the bike up and down the driveway a few times. Running smooth, but sometimes cuts out at full power. I ride it into the garage and hooked it up to the laptop and tried to download the settings with the XPS software.

I noticed the controller was pretty warm. But not hot.

The laptop never connected to the controller.

Unhooked the laptop. Connected the bike back up and the controller is dead.

My ebike tester shows the 5v circuit is good, but the throttle does nothing, no lights on the tester light. Tried two known-good throttles. Nothing.

So anyway, is been a while since I played with one of these controllers. There's no fuse internally. They're no sign of burnt components. What other failure indicators would there be? I don't see a reset pin.
Do I have to unsolder all the Fets in order to test them?

Any other diagnosis advice you could give?

Thanks!20260705_134855.jpg20260705_134913.jpg

These provide zero means of diagnosis, unlike Phaserunners, VESCs, etc.
Something like a dead hall sensor can prevent them from operating.
A good test is to try to run another motor with it.

Yeah, the halls on the Kuberg motor test fine. I'll see if I can hook it up to one of my other bikes without having to re.pin a bunch of connectors.

Otherwise I feel it's time to join the modern world with a VESC or Fardriver 😉

I only have good things to say about VESCs except that out of the box, it's a bit of work to get it going with ebike throttles/ebrakes.
For that, i like the spintend controllers and their ewheel adapter that comes with the appropriate accessories.
