How can I convert my old battery pack to use as power source when power goes out, like for a light, little fan etc?

I have a pack of Lifepo4 cells, still like new, just a bit bulky and I don't do the long ride I originally purchased them for so was wondering how I'd go about repurposing them to use as a power supply, just for some things like a little light, small car type fan etc? We are in hurricane season...

How much power can I get out of a 36v x 30ah battery pack, for electric motor on inflatable kayak?

I haven't been using my electric bike as much lately, been enjoying pedaling when I do go which isn't as often or definitely not as far as when I built the e-bike; the batteries are the prismatic cells, like new; thought they'd make good batteries for an electric trolling motor on my 2 person...

Question about putting a larger lipo battery in child's rc car?

I know this isn't e-bike related but hoping someone can give me some input on this: my child has a little rc stunt car, 3.7v 400mah battery that has to be taken out ea' time to recharge but there's space in battery box for larger. I remember when I first started out on here getting some warnings...

Looking for small lock box that can be secured, like strong handle etc?

It doesn't do me much good if the lock box is stolen; if could find one with a strong handle could attach to u-lock or similar to something secure. I like the shackle type like for keys if there was one much larger to store documents and the like, any ideas? Thanks!

Question about controllers that you can adjust the voltage?

I am looking at a front hub kit that the seller tells me I can adjust the voltage on it, is anyone familiar with this? I have been using a 27v x 30ah pack with a brush motor and while I have the other 3 cells to make it 36v the current setup works for me. Has anyone used a controller that the...

Geared VS Direct Drive: Pros & Cons?

I am looking at replacing my original direct drive front brush hub motor--which did require a larger front tire on the Trek Hybrid I had it on 38mm compared to rear 32mm, on a 700c rim. I have come across an inexpensive geared motor which on top of being inexpensive seems to take a narrower...

See a lot of inexpensive brushless hub motors nowadays (hallomotor etc) are these any good?

I've been using my wilderness energy brush hub motor with the intent eventually to upgrade to a higher power brushless and now am seeing lower prices and thinking of getting one. I see Mxus and Hallomotor a lot, are these any good for 36v use? And if so with the kits so many are 500w with 22a...

Have to re-adhere one magnet; should/how to remove adhesive the rest?

I have a brush motor that has a loose magnet and I am wondering while I've got it apart (and thinking if one has come loose, probably from inferior adhesive others are going to also) if there is any way to loosen the adhesive and remove the remaining magnets and re-adhere them all?

What tube with long valve do you use for e-bike double walled rim?

This was my first experience with a double walled rim so had put a regular schrader tube in it, but now that I've snapped a spoke seems like a good time to switch out the tube for one with a longer valve, but the only ones I'm finding are this tube Kenda 700X35-43 48Mm Long Schrader...

Does running brushed motor w/o controller harm motor?

While I have enough prismatic cells to make a 36v pack, ea are 30ah so bulky. I ended up making a 27v x 30ah pack that worked out fine except with regards to a controller; 24v would cutoff a bit early (but in retrospect, and I'm not great figuring this stuff out but seems cutoff would be 2.7v...

Is an e-bike defined as a recreational vehicle?

I know sometimes on trails they are but just for in town/on road use. Strictly power assist with functioning pedals, under 20mph etc. This is for USA, FL. Thanks.

Chromoly vs aluminum rear rack for battery packs?

Which is the better choice? Aluminum is rigid, strong and light but if it does crack it breaks while chromoly is heavier and maybe not as strong but it could bend and not break. I'm looking to upgrade my rear rack, I've never been comfortable using the stock blackburn mtn with my heavy battery...

Looking for a front rack that'd go in the eyelets and fork

I don't know if this is the place for this but I did have a front suspension rack but switched the aluminum forks for steel ones so now am looking for an inexpensive front rack that goes in the bottom eyelets and thru the hole in the front fork. The ones I do find are really expensive. I want to...

How far apart can 2 battery packs be from each other & work?

I have been using one 9 cell (27v) prismatic lifepo4 pack I built a few years back attached to the rear rack, and I have 3 more cells for making a 36v pack but they are heavy 30ah cells; if it's not a big deal I'd rather distribute the weight by making a 2nd pack out of the 3 remaining cells and...

How do I convert amps going out to mah being used

I have a little project involving my son's tablet. The charger input is shot so I'm looking at buying a lion intelligent single cell charger that's 2.5 amps while the tablet's cell is 2400 mah (88wh) I'm wondering how close 2.5 amps will match the tablets power usage, ideally he could keep it...

Can someone show to install front torque arms?

I was surprised searching ES and not finding any detailed instructions on how to install front torque arms. I get the basics, put c washers in then torque arms BUT here's the thing, I read about spacers/washers and in my case I put them on the outside so the torque arm would line up with the...

    Front or Rear Motor Preferences?

I see a lot on the front and some on the rear, do rear ones present significant obstacles as I have a front one but am thinking of going with a rear but since my current e-bike is alluminum (steel front fork) I'd be looking at getting a steel bike which adds another bike to my stable.

How many volts can a 110w brush motor handle?

I am thinking of buying a couple of used electric wheelchair tires 110w each, originally because I broke my leg and was getting burned out on pushing the manual around (plus hey electric power is fun, right?) Now I'm getting healed up, riding my e-bike again and walking around better. The seller...

Anyone Ride on the road with a bike or cargo trailer?

I'm wondering how much clearance/respect you get on the road?
