    improving eBike road handling?

That still looks like a nice bike. If you sell it you can look for something stiffer. The money I spent on a full suspension frame was well spent. When I added the 170mm + travel front fork, disk brake and dialed it all in I have a very forgiving bike. I use about 4" of travel just on heavy...

    improving eBike road handling?

I think your frame is flexing and this is effecting your handling. Unless you upgrade the frame their is little you can do. I had this problem with my original bike it only had front suspension. I looked for a bike with a solid wide heavy rear swingarm and it helped a lot but it still has a bit...

Fast dual X5 true or not?

92km/h is a farcry from 113km/h. If I wanted to go over 100 I would build a streamliner. When you start going 60mph+ aerodynamics plays a big part. I don't think it would be hard with a low profile trike they have a lot less drag than an ordinary bike.

Fast dual X5 true or not?

I can trust you, but we both know that after 80km/h it takes 125+v and 50a+ to get past 85 km/h with 1 x5303 hint hint... to get 100k/h + you would almost need double what I had. I think it can be done with enough batteries/controllers but it would require 2x 50a+ controllers 2x x5303 motors...

    Demoed a rim lol

Well I have been fooling around at the local skatepark. I was doing some vert and hitting some piramids and pulling huge 70 foot e-wheelies and I was going down some stairs when I thought it would be cool to go up some stairs, I made it the first time at 40km/h but @ 50+ no! hahaha bent the rim...

Fast dual X5 true or not?

I will add this: I was foolish and wanted a (power) bike. I bought a x5 and spent over 1000 dollars on lithium batteries from ebikes.ca. Guess what they were supposed to be 12ah batteries they cut out at 9ah each. I bought a 48a digital crystalyte controller (great controller by the way 4110...

Fast dual X5 true or not?

I think it is possible but... I have been north of 80km/h and my controller blew last year, I lost all use of one 36v lithium pack and I wasted a lot of money pushing the limits. If it is true both motors would be very hot after that run. If you run any x5 over 80v you are pushing it imo. I...

Just took a header at 20mph: All's Well (nearly)

I am glad you are ok. From your pictures If I had to guess why the wires are spun, it looks as if they were pushed into the spokes because it is wrapped outside the fork. If the axle spun it would have come loose and would most likely be wrapped around the inside part of your axle. I would bet...

    Donor Bike - Aluminum frame

Imo you can use an aluminium frame provided both dropouts are made of steel. The bike I ride is aluminum except for a heavy rear steel swingarm and it had a cheap steel suspension fork on the front before I bought a very heavy duty front fork for it.

    x5 cooling

I am a licenced machinist and times are tough. Who would be interested in a 100v stable x5 motor. I am thinking of machining two side covers with possibly an air compressor to cool it or a non conductive oil based solution that would have special fins machined into the side covers. If their is...

    Do you run disc brakes?

Here are my thoughts. I had 2 vee brakes last year and when properly adjusted they worked fine, even from 80km/h to dead stop but they need adjusting almost every day when used with an ebike: pros - cheap easy to change pads and little to go wrong cons - lots of brake fade, need to be replaced...

    Accident this morning

It is good that you salvaged most of your bike. If your motor is rebuilt (new bearings/axle) it should be good as new. For everyone else: use a helmet please it can and will save your life. If you riding over 20mph get a good motorcycle helmet, it may be overkill but it is more than enough to...

    Doubts on second motor AWD

In my opinion the money spent on the extra motor/controller is better spent on batteries. If a bike has all that extra weight it will not handle very well. If I was you I would just upgrade the batteries/controller or build a second bike.

    Accident this morning

needwheels: don't ever debate wearing a helmet. I have been saved some serious pain by wearing one. I also suggest wearing a motorcycle helmet. They can handle an impact at ebike speeds. I picked up a lowcut motorcycle helmet for around $50.00. It has some battlescars on it that would have...

    Accident this morning

Glad to hear you are ok, bikes can be replaced. I am very careful when I ride my bike because people don't always see you coming. I have had to avoid people hitting me about 4 times in the last two years. I hope you heal up quickly. I blew a tire @ 30mph last year and I had bad roadrash on my...

    Waterproof ebike/Ride in Rain

I have crysalyte components. I electrical taped the full length of every wire on my bike. there is enough room to wrap tape around the axle of the non freewheel side of the motor it seals that side up nicely, I siliconed every wire that exits the controller and wrapped every connection with...

Kona Kahuna build - 1000 mile review

I have used the 48a digital crystalyte controller on 5303 and 5304 motors and it worked very well. They have a new model with 18 fets this year ebrake output, cruise control output among other nice features. I will be buying one soon. I tried the 35amp analog and it is a dog in comparison it...

How do YOU measure your speed?

I use gps for topspeed runs and adjust wheel dia on cycle analist to get it close but it only gives ballpark, radar is more accurate but not practical. If your cheap you can buy a gps do a topspeed run on your vehicles and return it the same day lol. If you calibrate the cycle analist using a...

    How Fast is your ebike?

I hit 50 mph on flat ground last year according to gps. I was running a 5303 48a digital controller and two 36v lithium batteries in series. My pack was over 80v off the charger. I have a less powerful setup now and top speed is around 30mph@ 60v with a 35a analog controller. I only did this a...

What do you use your ebike for?

my bike is my primary mode of transportation but it is also very enjoyable. I use it until my back gets sore, stop and go some more I average 100kms a day.

5303 with 20" or 5304 with 24" with delta wye?

5303 is the better choice for speed. It will go 95km/h or more @ 100v.

How much money have you spent on ebikes?

$2400 in batteries alone. 2 x500 motors $800 controllers $400 Cycle analist $130 bike $250 downhill fork fork upgrade $250 Throttles $30. My gas bill priceless.

    LifePo4 reliability

My advice is get a cheaper kit. Make some mistakes with the cheaper gear, post questions, learn and then get a more powerful setup. Too many people try to build a powerfull bike and because they overlook the simple things that experience will teach you, they start blowing all kinds of money out...

new problem.. ugh controller shuts off when I hit throttle

I know they are expensive but that is how much good lithium packs cost. good Lithium is pricey but is worth the extra cost in the long run. You could try running another pack in parralel and using shotkey diodes to protect them. Your other pack doesn't need to be lithium you could use sla's or...

new problem.. ugh controller shuts off when I hit throttle

I think you should buy a better pack rather than take a chance on pushing your cells but that is up to you. You could also run 2 Nicad 48v packs from ebikes.ca in parallel and they will deliver the power you need or something else like high capacity Nimh pack or a123 cell based pack headway...
