19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

That should clear your swingarm crotch and stays without a problem. It will work for off road, but clearly that tire is made for pavement. I say since its readily available, give it try.

Thanks I was about to buy it but today I was tightening my spokes and I tend to damage the nipples in the process because of the very small clearance on my 20" wheel.

I wonder if I shall change the rim to a good one instead to avoid this spoke tightening pain? Or even maybe change it all to a casted wheel?

If you want a super durable set up, go with a 16x1.6 MC rim. That will be the icing on your 20" cake.

How important is the spoke pattern? I've seen both 3 cross lacing on rear wheel and 1 cross. Same for front wheel.
Would the added strength of a moto rim be vane if laced into 1 cross pattern? It just seems that much easier to lace into 1 cross pattern then do 3 cross - at least for a wheel building noob like me.

1 X is more rigid. I have never seen a 3X lace job on any hub motor to any rim, bike or MC. I also know for a fact that you are correct about 1X being easier to lace up. I went with 3X on the front MTB hub to MC rim as conventional wisdom shows that all MTB wheels use a 3X pattern. I had JRH do it back when they built wheels, That said, my CRF has 1X on the front, so I don't see any reason why a 1X on the front of our ebikes wouldn't work.

Have a hard time finding those concave washers. Are they a must for the front wheel or could I use regular washers?
I mean as long as the nipple fits thru the hole and the flanges of the nipple stop against the washers it might work, what do you think?

If you use regular washers, they will deform after a few rides and you will need to tension and true the wheel again. After that they will deform even more and so on until the become concave :)

How often did you have the re-true the wheel before the washers stopped deforming? And how quickly did you need to put more tension to the spokes? Like after a day of riding, a week or maybe a month of riding?

I'll think I will just use plain washers like you did if it is not too much PITA with all the re-truing.

Make sure you use stainless steel washers. Keep rusting at bay during water crossings.

Great thread thumbs up. :D

I did try to look for it but could not find it and hope to get some help.

If I have a Hope Pro 2 Evo Rear Hub - 150mm x 12mm. 36H.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/dk/en/hope-pro-2-evo-rear-hub-150mm-x-12mm/rp-prod113662

and also want the Pro-Wheel 19 x 1.85" rims.

Can some one tell what kind of spokes/nipple/washers size/lenght/width I need to get the wheel running.

I hope what I have requested is possible and I really appreciate any help.
In the meantime, thank you so much for your attention in this thread. :)

Hey scorefield, you can either use one of the spke calculators around or you could buy from holmeshobbies and for an additional 20 $ he will figure out what spoke length you need. He also got nipples, and at least earlie rhe used to have concave washers that would fit the pro wheel.

Some of the calculators have a database of various known hubs, maybe you can find your hub in one of them. If not you should get out you caliper and take proper measure of your hub. Look in this database, and there is also a guide to help you take the correct measure of you hub.

There is also a way of making your own concave washers in you look a bit back in this thread.

Edited: Sorry scorefield I totally forgot to pput in the link for you:
https://leonard.io/edd/ check the database, and also there is a guide how to measure you hub when you get it.

Not me, but have read it somewhere. But my guess is it all depends on the terrain you are riding and how hard you are on the wheel(jumping and flying off the sidewalks)

That should work, would look at something wider like this rim. http://www.unicycle.com/unicycle-hardware/rims-and-wheels/nimbus-dominator2-flat-rim.html

If you do order from Unicycle.com, pay attention as they offer a 19" rim as well and call it a 20" contact them and make sure its a true 20" or your 16MC tire will be too big.

Yes thanks. I'd also like as much as possible to get part I can easily source where I live. What about this one?
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/stranger-xxl-bmx-rim/rp-prod128844?gs=1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwsIWvBRCnzevvor2g4L8BEiQAAN234WlvoFWYvLc_gfdU0HL_I6S0ehNm1yYaxHafsleF8KkaAjJ68P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

It's also 42mm wide, it's actually the widest BMX rim created!

Then I need to find out what spokes and nipples I'd need. Thank you

Hey Macribs, thanks. Can't take measure of the hub as it is on the way with the mail to me.
Think that I need to contact holmeshobbies and pay the 20 $ for the help from him, because I'm not sure how to do it right atm.

What kind of front free hub do you people use with the Pro-Wheel 19 rims or other rims.? :)

There is a easy way to make motorcycle wheel with bicycle hub, simply just use 10G nipples with 14G threads, no need washers!

Welcome to the forum.
Cool. And the threads on those 10G nipples fits 14G spokes? Or is there a need to make new threads?

Sorry I forgot to include the link: https://leonard.io/edd/
This spoke calculator has a database, and it also shows you in detail how to measure up the hub.

I use a hub that is no longer in production, got it cheap on a close out sale.
There are other spoke calculators that have other hubs in their databases.

Thanks for the calculator, I did find the hope hub in there but do you maybe know what is the ERD/OSB of the Pro-Wheel 19 x 1.85" rim.
Sorry if this is a silly question but I can't find it.

Any idea where I can find decent motorcycle wheel in the UK?

Otherwise this BMX rim seems like a good value and easily available!

Cwah, these guys can supply everything you need. http://www.central-wheel.co.uk

I used this company: http://www.m.abrammotorcycles.co.uk to build my wheels, he supplied the rims (Excel 19x1.85) and had the angles correctly drilled for my Cromotor. I'm very happy with the result. Bear in mind that he does his wheel building part time and can be a little difficult to get hold of.

that looks good. It seems that the company central wheel can do everything from supplying spokes, rim to wheel building. How much did it cost you in total to get new rim, spokes, building in your cromotor? I'd like to keep cost down if possible
