19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

I want these for 3.00-18 in germany! Where can I get one? I need one for front tire.

do 18" moto tires fit on a 22" bike rim similar to how 16" moto tires fit on a 20" bike rim?

I spoke with a guy that tried 18MC tire on a 22"BMX rim. The tire inflated to the point the tire bead was off the rim. I speculate if you can find a 22"BMX rim with a very tall rim wall, it could work.

That kind of setup would make me nervous. I would always be riding with the terrible thought in the back of my mind wondering if the tire was going to slip off the rim when I was cornering hard and hit the right (wrong?) bump that popped the bead off.

Just got these Shinkos on one of my new builds. Makes the bike look more aggressive.
Any ideas what would be less heavy?

Holy shit, that´s a sexy seat you have got here..!

Where did you get that one and how much was it? Isn´t it a bit uncomfortable that it isn´t 100% flat?

on ebay (de)
but they are too heavy

Very nice build, worth reposting just on the beauty factor alone.

You'll be surprised, but seats are coming from China  Under $100 delivered. I got a few, so I got good pricing.
I am not a fan of moto seats on bikes as they basically discourage you from any pedaling. It's just really not convenient to pedal with the knees being bent so much. Still, the customer wanted a moto seat, so I delivered.
It's fairly comfy, I think if it was a bit wider, might be even more comfortable. Well, everyone that test rode the bike like it, no complaints.

As for the tires, obviously they are on the heavier side. It's a good and a bad thing. Good because the bike feels solid and stable both in the rear and in the front. Steering is heavier and more motorcycle style, goes over bumps curbs like they don't exist.

Bad, well obviously, weight, the bike needs more power to accelerate, also more rolling resistance. I am still averaging 50wh per mile riding conservatively/efficiently at 35mph and I think this is a good economy considering the weight. For my own new build, I will probably go with 241 17'' in the rear and 24'' bicycle rim plus brem master in the front. I like to keep the front lighter and more agile.

I'm thinking to get this rim:

What tyre would be best for heavy duty load? I'm thinking up to 200kg on the rear tyre.

Thanks

That's a serious heavy duty rim. At 42mm wide (1.6-inch) the narrowest tire I would use is 2.0-inch Panaracer RiBiMo, and a 20-inch rim "might" seat a 16-inch DOT moped tire. If a moped tire interests you, that width of rim could use anything from 2.0-inch up to 3.0-inch...

For bicycle tires, the Hookworm/Cyclops/Crazy-Bob/Big-Apple/etc @ 2.3-2.5-inch. I have a 1.6-inch wide moped rim with a 2.2-inch wide tire. It could have been wider, but it works well.

I'm concerned my bike doesn't have enough clearance. So maybe this tyre?

I just need something that can handle heavy load!

If heavy load is your main concern I would say moto rim and moto tire. With a moto rim you know for sure the bead will lock to the rim.
With that 20" a moto tire might hold on tight to rim.......I know several have done that but still safety first?

whats your clearance max?

I'm not sure about max clearance... maybe 2.25"?

2.25 inches is about 57mm, that seems quite narrow, even by XC MTB standards. You will have a hard time finding a moto tire that narrow.

Hey Rix CD and I did a days ride up Thredbo today so POV movie to come :D

Change the front tire to 17" 2.75 Moto tire much better on the single track

NIce Kiwi, can't wait to see your movie. Glad you like the moto tires front and rear, my next build will have an 18 on the rear, and 19 on the front.

Fender looks nice, but what happens if you get a flat front tire? Will the sag of deflating sidewalls be enough to cause the fender to drop and get caught up in the pavement before you can stop? It is hard to see from the pics if clearance is ok.

Pic was after finish "building" fenders... as i have some stairs to my "garage" i have shortened another 5cm to have enough clearance for 15-20cm stairs.
after 600km riding street and light offroad, no problems. not even the really small distance from tyre to fender.

Nice. Where did you get that thing?
