Can I use XT150 with 8AWG wires for my 2000W hub motor phase wires?

2000W hub motor
2x48V 17.5aH with 30Amps esch BMS
45AMPS Controller

My plug just melted during typical English weather...
Thank you

8AWG should be fine, the standard rates it for 50A which is about the most a 2000W 48V brushless setup should be drawing. If the connector that melted was rated for 50A and it melted, you might have a bigger problem

yes, you can use them, nothing stopping you from running oversized wiring and connectors.

That plug should be used in motors up to 750W 1000W. I spoke to the seller and thry agreed not to use that connection anymore with them 2000W motor.

Connectors are rated by current, not power.
The 50A connector may be sufficient for the battery input conductors but not for the phase wires, if you are a heavy throttle user or climbing hills. Under load, phase amps can be 2 to 3 times the 45A battery current, so as much as 135A.

Ok, thanks. So, those XT150 connectors should be ok, you recon?
No, Im not throttle user, just use it to kick off and sometimes where the road is straight, but mostly pedaling.
