was browsing CL for an electric bike and saw this...

I am new to all this stuff, so can someone tell why this motor is $2500 ? :D

Power up.Amazingly powerful electric motor in a six pound package for your bicycle or whatever.Hardened 15mm shaft,,100mm diameter by 75mm deep.I put one of these on my bicycle and have climbed market street hill from the bottom with ease.Powerful, light and just built custom motor you will have trouble finding elsewhere.Ceramic bearings ,state of the art outrunner motor. I only have two of these left. The next generation will be twice the stator thickness and double the price.I have a working platform if you are serious and want to see one run.No tire kickers.I dont play well with people who try to waste my time. $2500. Interesting trades entertained.

With no sensors, it's kinda useless.

Also, the bearings could only be hybrid steel race ceramic balls, because just looking at the motor you can see the races are steel.

It's priced $2500 because if you were to ever try to build a motor like that yourself (in the USA at least), you would spend more than $2,500 just on the tooling.

I would have thought that a serious motor builder would have posted the motor constants.....

I get a very strong vibe some serious motor builder is having some clueless friend do his craigslist listing for him. lol ;)

That motor winding may look ugly, but that is the work of a pro who knows how to pack the slot with everything it will hold.
