Would a 25H chain be sufficient for the reduction drive on a SK series HK motor running about 3300 watts? I am planning on using this chain as it is very easily available and used on many of the mini bikes and such so there are plenty of sprockets and different chains available. I will be running this in a two stage drive then using standard bike chain from the 2nd stage to one of two 48T crank sprockets to provide approx 120 RPM at the crank, then sending power through the rear casette. Does anyone see a major problem with using this chain? It would seem strong enough, but I wanted to check if anyone has used it..

If both sprockets are large diameter, you can get away with very wimpy little chain. When sprockets start getting smaller, chain stregnth becomes an issue with #25. If you want to go bullet-proof, go with #219 chain. You're never going to break it or wear it out.

The answer is a resounding "Yes" as long as you use the heavy-duty #25 chain. I get mine from electric scooter parts.com. The standard chain will begin getting tight (kinked up) easily. The heavy duty chain is bullet-proof for our purposes.

Great! Thanks for the help!

Does anybody know if a series 25 chain on this site is the same as the 25H? I would really like to use their Aluminum 60T sprocket if it will work!
