so my old hub motor with the broken spokes is sitting aside whilst i decide my next step on new bike. i'm liking the cyclone non hub motor idea..and stepping up to 1000w from my 500w hub motor

i'm wondering what i can salvage. i would love to reuse my basically brand new lithium battery pack at 36v 12a. or would/should i invest in a larger 48v battery pack.
its going on a hard trail mountain bike and most likely mounted inside the frame.

also.. those stupid electric brake handles are going and never coming back. its not to difficult to remember to take Ur hand off the throttle when u brake.

the 900 watt motor is designed for 36v, the 1000watt for 48volt....sugestion, their controller is not the best.. Lyen can make you a better controller for about the same reduction you get by buying the kit with=out the controller...EDIT.. i think the only difference between t5he 900 and 1000 watt is the controller

Most here would agree that 12 ah lithium should handle a stock 20 amp controller but you will need to push 30 amps at 36 V to get 1080 watts so I would say keep it at around 700 watts ..

it would seem buying off cyclones website is half the price as the ebay/edeals guys here in australia. any catch?

If you aren't going to restate what your stuff is, at least link to the threads where you do. I at least, can't remember the details of every members motors and batteries. So I can't comment till I get reminded what equipment we are discussing.

i have a 500w front hub motor with a 36v 12am battery
i was looking at a 900w(ish) non hub motor from cyclone thaiwan wich their one chain kits costing about 450USD
i was quoted from an australian retailer nearly 800 dollars for a 700w(ish) motor here.

and i was just wondering if there really is a marked increase in quality from edeals (australian dealer) to the nearly half cost ones from thaiwan?

Nope. He is just a reseller... who puts a large markup on his stock. (Ahem)

I still couldn't say much about could the battery handle it, without more info. Speculating that it's a 2c capable lifepo4, then NO.

and 500 watt hub motor could be anything from a bafang planetary gear motor at it's watt limits to a direct drive hubmotor that can easily handle 2500 watts.
Maybe all you need is a better battery and a different controller. Maybe you have 1000 watts and don't know it.

As for the chain drive stuff, I know squat about that. I'm a frockmotor hag.

Edit, just hunted down your thread on the motor. Looks like a Conhis, or Golden motor. Either one should easily handle a 1000 watt controller.

Reading about the batteries, pretty confusing what you are using now, but none of it sounds very up to 1000 watts draw. So figure on something better, or bigger, to run a chain drive 1000 watts, or a bigger controller on your existing motor. Assumig you fixed the spokes etc that is.
