hello .
i have a zoombicycles 36v 250w mountain bike i opened up the controller
and see that it has a 50v cap. do you think this will handle a 48v battery pack fully charged?
i would like to get a little more speed from this bike and would be great if i
dont have to replace the controller. anyone hear of these bikes?

thanks

48 V charges to well over 50V, so no, that controller will not work.
If you can show us a picture of your controller, it might help us recommend another.
I don't thinkit's that special, but it's likely you would have to change some connectors.

Well, "48V" fully charged is close to 60V, depending on chemistry and actual number of cells, so I wouldn't do it without upgrading any components in there that won't handle at least 25-50% more than the highest voltage you expect to be applied to them.

Also, there may be a voltage regulator in there that takes your pack voltage and lowers it to what the brain of the controller/etc can use, and raising it's input voltage will probably make it hotter, building up more heat inside the controller casing, which affects the lifespan of parts inside, especially since in general it's going to run hotter with more power being run thru it at the higher voltage.

Also keep in mind that your motor will run hotter with more power run thru it. Depending on how well it's made, and how hard you run it, it will probably take that just fine, but some of them don't, so if it seems like it's getting too hot (can't keep your hand on it when you touch it, for instance), then you may have to back off on the throttle usage.

This is the controller. Sorry it's upside down.

I also have this scooter..

I am looking for a new controller for this. looking to run 84v or more. just blew up the controller last week. So if anyone has a spare controller
that they will ship to canada let me know. The scooter was 48v/500W

Ordered this controller for my scooter. can't wait to get it and get this on the streets again..

Ok so scooter is all back together with the 84v controler.. took a few days
to get it all sorted but thanks to some people here and another forum i managed
.. still have lights and accessories to conntect.

i am getting a top speed of about 50kph witch is not to bad but i could handle some more.
that will be a future upgrade. i am going to continue on the
mountain bike project now the scooter is ridable.

i would like to get 50kph+ on the mtb. its 36v so i was thinking a 24v
hub motor would give me about 40kph or so. and i coild jeep the same controller.
but i could also get a saddle bag to carry some more batteries and maby
just upgrade everything. ive seen plenty of bikes doing these speeds so
im sure its not much to ask for. i guess it all about what you are willing to spend.
well im tring to keep it cheap. any other suggestions?
