Hi guys, I really need a lot of help, First of all I'm just going to admit I know nothing about E-bikes or power assisted bikes. Recently I was helping my sister sort out her garage after the death of her husband and came across an unfinished electric bike he was building for his son. I have decided to finish the bike in his honour in time for his sons 16Th birthday but all I can tell you is its a 36V rear wheel hub 3 phase wire and they are yellow, green and blue and the which are already connected. and 5 wires connected to the wheel. The brakes are connected also, the throttle is 5 wires, 3 wires from the throttle is connected to the controller, red to red, black to black and blue to green, there is an orange and grey wire but don't know where they connect too, there is also a red push button with red and blue wires not connected up. I don't know the make of the controller all I can say is that it is old. I would be really grateful if anybody can tell me where the red button connects to and the 2 spare wires from the throttle (grey/orange) go. :?

Hi Lazzyboy,
are the LED lights on the actual throttle? And a button or switch? They would tend to be the other two wires on the throttle that are not used. If I am right, then they can be left off.

Some pics would help you.

The red button is just a latching switch. It can be used for anything you want. Some controllers have an ignition wire that has to be connected to the positive battery wire for the controller to give power. You can run this wire through the switch so that you have an on/off switch without disconnecting the battery. Another use is when you use a pedal sensor. You can use the switch to switch it on/off by wiring it to the red wire on the PAS.

Does the throttle have LEDs on it? If so, one or both of the other wires are for them. Normally, there's only one wire to the battery positive, and they use the throttle ground. A photo of what you have would help.

that single red wire may be an ignition wire. It hooks up to the the red power wire, battery positive. The bike will not run unless it is hooked to the red wire, some put a switch there.

I am not 100% sure, you can put a fuse with low amps in between if you want to be cautious.

BikeFanatic can you tell me is it the red wire from the red push button to the red wire positive on the battery, can you tell me where the blue wire connects to please?

the push button is different than what i am talking about.

per your picture, there is a single red wire that you wrote ? next to. What I am suggesting, is that single red wire may be an ignition wire, and when you hook it to battery positive makes the bike run. This is just a guess as you have a mystery controller there, I am basing my answer on my experience with some controllers.

You should post up a s many pics as you can, what about the throttle connectors can we see the throttle connectors.
Are there two seperate plugs from the throttle?

OK, I see your pics. I think the throttle has two connectors coming off it. The 3 wire connector, that hooks to the controllers 3 wire throttle connector. Then the seperate 2 wire connector, coming from the throttle or coming from the RED button hooks to the ebrakes.
I think that red button could be a kill switch. a switch that when you push it kills power as a safety mechanism.

But first you have to get the bike running. so connect the halls the 3 phase wires the throttle, then try that ignition wire
to battery positive

wires code.jpgThe wire with the question mark is a red and black wire not a single red, the wires coming from the control box is green, black and red. from the throttle is blue, black and red which are going to the controller, the orange and grey wire from the throttle is going to a plug for lights. the blue wire is connected to the orange, the grey wire is connected to a brown wire which is going to the plug from the lights switch and red wire. The thin red and black wire from the control box plugs into the light switch plug. I will post a picture of this...

Are you working on the bike right now? I have to go out maybe someone else can chime in.

If you are trying to get the bike running hook u the halls the phase and the throttle only. do not hook up the Ebrakes as they can be an issue killing power to the motor. Then hook up the battery. see if it works. Start there.

wire loom.jpgOnce again i do apologise i really do not know anything about E-bikes or power assisted bikes. Would like to thank you for taking the time to try and understand this for me and for all the help and advice, i really appreciate it

UPDATE...how far i have got so far!
The 2 extra wires from the throttle, the grey and orange wires, i have found out where they go. they are for LEDs. Connected the hall and phase wires up and throttle, but still no power to the hub, still have the red button with red and blue wire to connect up and still no idea where to connect it, any further help is appreciated.
