The options seem to be:
BMC
MAC
Mxus 500w
Bafang BPM
Bafang CST
Q128H 800W
Q128C 500W
ezee v2

Wider Dropout options:
Bafang Fatbike Geared: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-BAFANG-48V-750W-Brushless-Geared-Freewheel-Motor-For-175mm-Fat-Tire-ebike/32515210418.htmlspm=2114.30010308.3.185.sKB8Ew&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_2,searchweb201602_2_10036_10035_10034_507_10032_10020_10001_10002_10017_2030018_10010_10005_10006_10011_10003_10021_10004_10022_10009_10008_10018_10019,searchweb201603_6&btsid=ac8c9e6f-7fa2-48f8-a2e4-2ef58a8d0313

From what I can work out from the search function:
- BMC and MAC are pretty much the same thing, yet MAC is cheaper.
- Mxus and Bafang are similar, Mxus 'lighter construction'

Historically Bafang BPM and MAC seemed to be the preferred options, but times have moved on since then. If you've owned one, or you are a vendor, what do you think and why?

Is there any options I have missed?

Fusinmotors, if they still make the one I reviewed here:

eZee. Worked very well for me and seems to be highly regarded. If you do get one I suggest putting a layer of grease under the motor cover and on all of the cover screw threads to keep out moisture. Clean this up and do it again maybe once a year. Other than that, I had no problems. I ran mine for about 8,000 miles and when I opened it up before selling it (I'm converting to a new bike with different wheel size, and want to try a smaller motor), the insides were still in excellent condition. I used it in the 250-500 W range mostly, and only briefly for around 600 W max before I realized that was overkill. I did clean up the insides (old grease) and put a bit of fresh grease on the ring gear once or twice.

There is the revitalized Q128, Q128H and Q128C. 36V or 48V, 400W to 800W.
It is lighter and smaller than the above listed motors.
I predict that as more people use this motor, nit's popularity will soar.

Updated for more options.
Cannot locate a website for fusinmotors. Either they have folded, been absorbed or my Google Fu is too weak.

Anyone know of any made for a 155mm drop out? most of these seem to be 135mm :(

:( I don't see their site anymore either--is a domain parking page now. This is an archive of it, though, if you want to try to contact them and see if maybe they just forgot to pay the webserver bill. ;)

THis was the page for the kit I have

Louispower here on ES was their rep, and an email address on their site was

They also had a forum

I got the Bafang 500w CST, I put it in a Trek DS 8.4 and it was pretty much a perfect drop in.. I used the existing cassette so no stuffing about with a freewheel.. No problems still goes fine.
Its been a few years now... if I was starting over I would probably get one of those Q128C's their just so much cheaper...
I really like the S12S + KT-LCD3 for controller/LCD setup which is all compatible..

The Q128H is pretty much spot on for what I want, but no 155mm option (unless anyone else has ideas) and it means dealing with BMS battery for both purchase and any replacement parts :(
Not sure how hard it would be to customise a wider axle.. or whether the existing axle is actually wide enough to sneak it in there. 8)

If you need 155mm type frame you probably want something beyond well beyond 500w in motor.. doesn't seem to make much sense to have such a combination..
