This looks like an interesting setup. The bike doesn't fly, but it seems to work ok on the ground :D Please Note that this video belongs to SloperSteve, I think his website is slofly.com

Think about this;

If that duct tape contraption comes loose, it is pushing TOWARD him.

Hmm, I think I would rethink that one.

Maybe he didn't think?! :mrgreen:

I liked the propeller idea. It has a much flatter thrust/force curve for the speeds we go and one wouldn't have to worry about going "too slow" for the motor which could reduce its efficiency to the point of burning it up(If the right propeller is chosen). It also eliminates the complications, weight and cumbersome nature of gearing. But I found that even an optimal propeller has an efficiency of 70-80% whereas a drive train has an efficiency of >90%, which would equate to less over-all power IF everything is geared properly for the rider's environment.

With something that small, it's probably not likely. With something that small plus the legally requisite propeller cage, it'd be almost impossible(Well, assuming a dense enough weaving pattern on the cage).

I wasn't including the motor's efficiency.
