Quote " ..I mean do people like that even exist? "

This one i can answer... YES>>>>

I have 12 years experience at a help desk... " Technical support.. my name is Gaston, how may i help you, bonjour " ... i have repeated this statement no less than a million times.. and i swear on my testicles that about 20 % of the things i get asked on a daily basis would just blow your mind......

Stupid is what stupid does.. and alot of people do without thinking.

Others on the other hand.. think without doing...

 You scare me... but you might actually be correct.

Gosh, how can people even discuss ideas if you are being held up to this ideal of perfection all the time?

Seems to me that if people are so stupid as to not take the time to think things through themselves ("Life of Brian" quote: "Think for Yourselves" ) then they deserve whatever consequences there are for their lack of judgement.

It's better to think your way down a wrong path first, because you can then decide not to take that turn in the road when it comes. If you are unable to do the "thought experiment" then the path is left there without any knowledge attached to it. Better to think first, then act if it's wise than to act impulsively. Of course these days everyone is acting on ZERO thinking so it's scary.

My final choice of action is always going to be the end result of many possible paths that were rejected.

You guys are wasting your breath...this guy has a screw loose. All that is going to happen, is pretty soon no one will respond to this thread any more. Then he will distill some sort of ill conceived summation of all his misconceptions that he generated by pulling things out of his ass-into a grand conclusion, that states basically, that he has once again turned lead into gold.

Forget the fact that it is cheaper to simply go out and buy some gold and also forget that the idea wont even work. This is "theory". You have to think "outside the box" and an education, expertise, logic, or good old common sense or especially reality - is enemy #1!

Then, he will eventually ( within 48 hours ) create another useless thread. The subject of the thread will be a closer focus on some minutia from within the previous thread ( in which he thinks he has established some new fact or process ) starting off with a baseless erroneous assumption, that he will pass off as fact and a new misinformation campaign will start all over again.

Charge pumps are capable of high efficiency, but only under very LIGHT loads.
what do you think a charge time of 20RC implies?

There are a lot of really smart engineers in the world, why do you think nobody bothers to build high power charge pump circuits?
Why are INDUCTIVE based circuits used EVERYWHERE? cost, efficiency, power density, simplicity....

This topology is

Extremely expensive
Extremely inefficient
Extremely complex
Extremely bulky

What are the sellings points again? You're going to get that extra 1% out of that pack from cell imbalances?
What does this system do that can't be accomplished much cheaper and easier by other approaches? nothing?

Will you address my points? no
will you read that link AND UNDERSTAND the technical info? no
will you remain supremely confident in your viewpoint despite all evidence to the contrary? yes
will you brush aside and ignore any evidence or argument which doesn't support your world view? yes

No sane engineer relies solely on simulations. Reality checks with real world parts are required. Yes, I do expect you to go and build at least one or two functional blocks of your design so you can see what the REAL problems and limitations are. Clearly you don't have sufficient knowledge to get useful results out of simulations without making catastrophic errors in your simulations and misinterpreting the results.

Breadboard up 2 cells worth of your switched capacitor system. See if you can get it to work, see what kind of efficiency you get out of it with realistic loads, see what kind of parts it will require in a final system. I don't believe you will ever actually build anything. Not even a test circuit. If you do I will be absolutely astonished.

Errr... safe, I think you failed to even get the 'Life of Brian' quote right:

Sorry couldn't help it.

It took me about six months of online debate about Armature Current Limiting and then another three or four months before I actually identified and then ordered the parts. It then took about three months before I finally soldered up my first circuitboard and tested it. (all tests were positive)

The final circuit will be tested in actual use when I finish Project #002 which I started in the spring of 2007 and hope to actually get running by the end of this year.

 So I have loooooooooong lead times to get stuff done.

I'm very conservative when it comes to the final outcome of my efforts. (when and if I build it the chances of success are very good)

My tendency is to fire off tons of ideas and then filter those down to the one's worth pursuing. I've got limited abilities in terms of cost, fabrication, and general health (at nearly 50 years old I don't have the energy anymore) to do everything and this is after all a "hobby" for me.

It's fun to dream up stuff... all dreams don't need to be acted upon...

Fixed

I'm thinking these little forays into "intellectual masturbation" are Safe's way of justifying an inordinate amount of procrastination being done on his part in regards to Project #002 and Project #003.

[I originally had the thought that these triple-digit, project numbers were the result of some serious, wishful thinking. However, with all of these 'side-bar' projects - had they been numbered as well - could be a distinct possibility. Although #100 will likely be started before #002 is actually completed.]
