About to order 48v15ah li-ncm from BMSBattery, should I??

I'm in LA, west coast. I've never dealt with BMSbattery. Seems like mixed reviews.

But I do like the price/performance of their 48v15ah Li-NCM high-C rate pack. With charger and shipping, comes out around $490. Some people seemed to have good experience with this battery cell from them.

One thing I like/heard about them is that, it took some people 9 days from ordering to receiving their stuff here in the USA. That's a pretty impressive turn-around I guess.

Does anyone want to share their latest experience with me before I make the plunge?

I can't tell you much about the battery but.

You never know if or when they will ship. It's been a while since I did order from them. One order was a week others 2 months. It's a crap shoot. You normaly get a tracking # that doesn't work till it shows up.
As you said good prices but always being ripped off in shipping to make it even on their end.

I think it was them who sent me an e-mail after I ordered telling me it would cost extra for shipping. That was just with a motor in rim. I can't remember how much extra they wanted (even though I already paid for shipping when I ordered). That was a couple years ago though so maybe they've changed their ways.

First what are trying to run ? Motor type controller with it's amp demands ? Your must buy a battery to use at 80 percent of your needs and not a 20a battery at 22amps. There is a L.A. battery seller and sunthing or em3ev. Get sombody who will support you after sale.

I will be using LightningRod's GNG Mid drive. 48v-30Amps. Lyen 12fet controller mark 2, 30mph continuous. 100% flat road mostly. 26" bike. I used to have 10Ah pack and thought it was plenty for me on a Bafang BPM 500w. I rode that pack till for 23miles full throttle at 23-25mph and it still had charge!

which LA seller are you referring to? Em3ev says he's out of stock for a while (on the 20R's), wait time is 2 months+build time on 25R. I don't like 29E's and 22P's are too small of capacity. I bought from sunthing28 before, don't want the weight of LifePo4. Forget RC hobbyking LiPo's because I live in a condo. If a fire goes, I'd be taking 3 neighbors with me. (<-- well that may not be true as our state-of-the-art condo has a sprinkler system in each room).

That leaves me with Lectric-Cycles. His 48v 11.6ah Panasonic 18650PF cells are questionable at 25-30A. I saw discharge curves and it didn't look good.

There's always supowerbattery111 on eBay. She can sell me Samsung 25R packs. But I have to build it. After buying charger, bms, shrink wrap, tools, solder, flux, plus my own labor(days to build)... It's not that much difference in cost. I would get flexibility to increase capacity.

My next second choice is to buy Hi-Power Cycle's 48v 12.5/13Ah Li-NCM pack. He says he can give me a good discount for cash price, no tax, local pick up. Claims 60A discharge..but even at half that, 30A, it would still meet my requirements.
Allcelltech batteries are sketchy. They use 2C cells which are most likely laptop cells. Not interested, given the high cost too.

That cell is worse discharge than 22P. 22P is rated 3C,29E is 2C.

Its hard to know isn't it. At least with LIFPO4 you have a pretty well known voltage curve over time, whereas with these various products the shape of the voltage curve over a ride could be less flat. I like the flattish voltage curve on the Headways and Pings.

Em3ev won't get 25Rs for two months he says. Plus build and shipping time. You looking at at least 3 months lead time.

I'm buying my own cells and building it together. I don't know why our sellers here don't carry the latest and greatest batteries. Customers like us demand the best and we sure will pay top dollar for it right?

Who knows, if i successfully build one with the triangle frame pack and case, I might consider building them as a hobby and selling them stateside. And provide people with warranties.

I purchased their 36V 15Ah "High C-Rate" Li-ion battery a couple of weeks ago. The battery arrived nearly fully charged and in fine condition. The box did have the official warning label on it as is now required so they didn't try to sneak it in as something else. The charger input is terminated with small red/green Anderson type connectors and the output has a one-piece 75A Anderson type connector. They supply a matching 75A connector and 2 pins. I have a 240W charger that I purchased from them previously which is set for 42.10V. After a charge the battery sits at just over 42V (42.04). The size and weight is as they specify on their site. I have calculated the internal resistance from the voltage drop at a quite good 0.05 ohms.

I've only been on 3 rides so far with it consuming 7.1, 8.3 and 11.2 Ah. That last ride was nearly 75% of the rated capacity and the resting voltage right after it was 35.9V with a Vmin for the ride of 34.5V. I'm running a 27A peak controller.

So far it looks like a great alternative to the hobby LiPo which I have been using the past few years. Here it is in my Topeak trunk bag;

Yes, from BMSBattery.

$259 for the 36V15Ah "High C-Rate Polymer Li-Ion Battery Heat Shrink Tube Pack" (no charger) + $135 shipping (I also ordered other stuff).

Note that I originally selected EMS for shipping ($122.54 to Wisconsin) however they said they only ship batteries via TNT or UPS, which cost more. I selected UPS and submitted the requested additional $12.The total shipping still came to less than if I had selected UPS from the beginning since their website quotes $170.34 to ship just the battery via UPS.

I thought Sun Thing was in China. Anyway, 20 amps max I'd recommend using a pouch lifepo4 at.

This looks pretty good, better c rate, decent price including shipping. Lets see if they really can handle the c rate.

And you get a bms. 8) No bms with HK stuff.

They don't have any typos only don't really kknow what they have.

15Ah pack at 2c is 30amp draw and 4c max is not what I would call a HIGH DISCHARGE rating.

All you can do is buy it and kill it so we will know.

I think you will find that most people that got stuffed orders it was for stuff other then batteries. My battery I got from them still works fine.
D8veh says that the dodgey last minute extra $50 demand problem has long been fixed and was apparently due to their shipping calculator not being right at the time or something along those lines.

True, I had an issue or two with my order. It was a motor kit. For one the wheel was not even close to true. For another there was something wrong with it as evident from the terrible noise it made when trying to accelerate.

But that was with a hub motor not a battery!

I've decided to build my own pack now using Samsung 25Rs.

if you are new. you should reconsider. if you have no experience with batteries and need to ask others what to do, you should not be building a battery out of the little lipo cans which you have to solder to each other. you should just buy a battery off ebay and use it until you can learn how to work with batteries.
