shinny :D looks amazing should be able to stop rather quickly now but check i wont lock the wheel at lower speeds?

The GUSTAV M has got the best performance. No clattering, no blocking, everything well-matched!!
Of course you must look where you need the brake, in the front wheel or the rear wheel.
For the front wheel you can take 180-210mm discs and for the rear wheel 150-180mm discs.
But take a look for what you need it:
Bicycles weight, your weight, the speed you ride, downhill, cross, cycleway(asphalt), velodrome???

My calculation:
Is for my lowracer hybrid bike (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3SAFnheRJo),
the bike has got 108Kg additonal with me there's a result of 200Kg.
The average speed on a cycleway is about 30-35Km/h.
I decided to take 2 brakes for the front wheels with 210mm disc, the brake body with the double piston is always the same!

how do they compare to Hope Tech M4 in terms of power and modulation?

Matt recommends Hope M4, Chris loves the Gustav M..

There is this promotion now for Gustav - one set for 250EUR.

cheapest Hope M4 i found starting at 325EUR

I take they both can be used on a front trike wheels - with right adaptors?

That radial pattern while good for lateral loads (cornering) is not good for torsional load (braking/accelerating). I'd have gone with a cross pattern and 48 spokes, especially with such large rotors and the 108kg you're stopping.

If anyone is interested in actual brake performance data, then check out these disc brake dyno results that show the Shimano Saint followed by Formula The One with Hope V2 and Shimano Deore M595 a tie in third for outright dry stopping power.

Please consider that I've got only 20" bmx rims. Of course for a 26" rim is another load!!!
My front wheels must stop 200Kg. The rear wheel hasn't any mechanical/hydraulic brake, here's only the motor and his recouperation!
With the Magura Gustav I don't ride bad. Now, I've tested it with the 210mm disc a long time in extreme situations.

Of course there are many other hydraulic brakes on the market... not much better

Example the 8piston GATOR BRAKE:

Don't trust these 'dyno' tests from bikeradar. It's utter BS. I haven't got a dyno, but I do own the victorious Shimano Saint brakeset, and have owned various other (Shimano and other brand) brakes. Gustav is by far the strongest brake I've ever grabbed.

Not exactly a 'promotion' as this brake is being discontinued due to the DH racer crowd demanding lighter products. It's the very best price for this amount of power and reliability.

Magura HS 33 brake

thanks!

they are both hydraulic, but the gustav is disc brake and the one you are referring to is a rim brake. I never used those rim hydraulic brakes...

Hi Andrea!

Both brakes are from MAGURA, that's no cheap china stuff, that's quality made in germany.

Here the facts:

GUSTAV M..........................................................HS33
Hydraulic............................................................Hydraulic
Disc brake..........................................................Rim brake
Heat-resistant brake pads.................................Rubber brake pads
Same brake power in all weather conditions......Bad brake power in rainy weather

USAGE: For extreme bikers.................................USAGE: For "City" or "Treking" bikes
Downhill Mountainbikes
Tandem-Bike

The price for the brake pads are nearly equal!
The price for the brake set, Gustav M or HS33 is very different...
