Hi,

I am newbie and still learning how to built DIY electric bicycle.

I am palnning to use this RC motor. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=5204 and
this ESC. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=14500 , using this battery - 2 pc in parallel for more ampere.

My intention is to built electric bicycle use for short trip about 1-2KM (from home to train & vise versa) with speed of 10-20KM/Hr. I can't pedle & just barely able to walk as I have very bad spine injury recently due to traffic accident.

Apart from bicycle, what else I need to buy for controlling speed.

If possible, kindly give me wiring diagram and give me detail walk through as I am not tech savvy but I need electric bike to to my disability.

Any advice or idea is highly appreciated.

Thank you

I don't have the specifics to hand, but there are a few threads that have quite a bit of detail on this; you can search for eboost or kepler drive for at least a couple of ways, then there are AussieJester's build logs for the cruiser and the H.O.B.O. build, plus quite a few others.

For a recovering spine injury, you may want to look at a rear-suspension recumbent bicycle. If that sounds good for you, the bike you use will affect which motors are appropriate to drive it.

There don't seem to be any affordable plug-and-play RC systems yet. If you look at the RC builds, some drive the rear wheel, and theres a few friction-drives. You will need at least some type of throttle, and I have had good luck by using a tiny E-Sky servo-tester. However, RC stuff seems to need a lot of custom brackets and adapters that you may need to make yourself.

How much budget do you have? How would you like the RC-motor to drive the bike? Do you have any hills on your commute? will you lhave to ock up your bike outside, or can you lock it inside?

Thank you so much to amberwolf and spinningmagnets for your input.

I am now thinking of DIY eboost with my friends's help.
I like the idea of recumbent seat, good for my back.
Not much of hill, but have to go uphill about 25 degree for 500 meters, otherwise flat surface.
I think of RC motor because of light weight and need to carry in train, so need to be small and light.

Forgot to mentioned that I need to built a 3 wheeler as my doctor recommend ( 2 wheelers still need to use my spine to balance).
Can I fix eboost kit to front wheel?

I think you'll find the hobbyking esc's aren't that robust in e-vehicles. If you want to go with a sensorless controller (no modification of the motor) Alot of board members recommend the castle creations hv160, I'd say its worth the extra $$$. You may want to consider a 3 wheel vehicle that you stand up on so you don't have to climb on and off of a recumbent or trike just a though.
