Hi Guys

Getting more used to the amazing little KMX, had a right blast making this and notice the steep bank I hit right at the end of the film! that was fun, there is also a section over some marsh ground on a wooden platform that is Ideal for racing around.

Again better to use the down loader and download and watch the video as the quality is a little better.

Cheers

Hi knoxie

Please check your private messages...I PM'd u with a couple questions

thanks

Nice video :D Looks like a nice ride.
I couldn't view the version I downloaded though for some reason...

Jozz

thanks for the video knoxie, i loved all the angles / cuts / routes/ riding /editing and audio... good work!

what motor / voltage were you using?

i think my KMX may be arriving tomorrow...

Hi Guys

Thanks for the compliments! I tried to mix it up a bit this time a bit of one handed stuff different angles on the fly! ha ha its a load of fun to ride, people that haven't ridden one don't know what they are missing!!

Yes hope you comes soon D, I am looking forward to the videos that you are going to shoot on your as well!!

As far as the motor goes its a modified Kolmorgen motor and a USPD drive plate running off the back of a 36-72V xlyte controller 35A, with a 37V 35A Lipo on the side, so nice and light and powerful enough for me, its a lot of fun at 72V as well but its too fast for me!! ha ha Im more than happy at 37V and if anything would only add another 37V lipo in parallel to increase the range so I can stay out on it longer!!

You could get a great bike using a Puma and 37V of NIMH though sort of on the cheap! Puma would be as powerful I am sure and less likely to break spokes, although I have never had a spoke break in the KMX, I think the spokes are a little stronger and 2 inches shorted which may help.

The downloaded Google Video one plays ok with me? the Youtube one is ok as well?

Have fun with your bike

Hey Knoxie, another sweet video. I'm assuming your using multiple cameras? I'm curious to what camera(s) setup you are using, I love the bottom view angle. I see a lot of motorcycle rides using camera views down low and like yours they dont come out jittery from all the bumps. When you get a chance can you post some pics of the video equipment youre using and how theyre mounted. -thanks

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the positives, for some reason google really compress my movies in normal mode, I post them in much higher definition, I must send them a mail and ask them why, they always look a lot better if you download them and use the standalone player, I am glad you all liked them.

Maytag, I will post some pictures of the camera setup I used as well, have been meaning to do this for a little while now as others have asked as well. I decided to leave the sound on the clips as well as the music this time for something different, I love that tune its off the new Muse album and is called Knights of Cydonia! how cool :)

Cant wait to see all you lot post up your vids, I try and do something different and edit them differently each time, Its great fun getting out there and making them as well as you tend to push yourself a little more I had never tried that steep bank on the KMX before and didnt even know if it would not bottom out going up it? just hoped for the best! ha ha

Thanks again

Knoxie

Hey

Glad you liked, I agree about the music, I think a little of both is a good mix as my taste in music is not to everybody's I am sure  its mainly about the video though, I want people to see just what a laugh trike's can be, I never thought so until i got this.

Have fun

awesome video Knoxie,

Especially loved the view of the spinning disc brake. :)

There are a few scenes in there where i think eek thats too close for comfort - ie when you pass the parked car with oncomming traffic near the start of the vid...

but its prolly more the camera angle.

Every time i see a vid of yours I keep thinking they can't get any better, and each time you smash that idea out of my head. Keep up the great work!:D

Haydon

Hello Haydon

Cheers M8 I do try and do something different each time to keep things fresh, this time opting for sound and music, I wasnt as near to those cars as it looked, its a small camera with a wide angle it looked closer, the bank at the end is a lot steeper than it looks, its a job to get up it unassisted on anything.

This video was the quickest one to edit, took about 30 mins or so, a few people have asked, I use a Canon digitial Ixus 400 camera and a Ram cam mount, its on a ball socket and can be locked in to any position, for editing I use Ulead Video studio 10, big fan of Ulead stuff its aimed at the amateur and is nice and easy to pick up and use, highly recommended.

I will do something different next time 8)

BigH has it bang on there mate, awesome vid that kmx really shifts!!!
what software do you overlay the tunes with? can you show us your recording setup? looks and sounds great.

Cheers mate.

Hi Malcolm

Yes a lot of that was actually rougher than it looked, that path alongside the reservoir is really bumpy! dont think I will be taking it off any jumps, I may take it on some loose off road stuff for a blast.

When you corner really fast you have to throw your head over the opposite side to stop it getting up on 2 wheels! he he lots of fun.

Good Luck D

Mine came assembled as I got it off Tony Castles, good luck with the assembly I am sure you will have good fun even without a motor.

Cheers

d, remeber Knoxie's tip lean into corners, the faster you go the further you lean.
Video example attached to give the general idea. :)

got it assembled, tuned up, and went on my first ride.... it was an absolute blast! totally new cycling experience... much more layed back both literally and figuratively... I feel like I go a little bit slower for the same amount of effort, but not much slower, and the benefits outweigh the drawbacks certainly...

lightwight road bike... check.
full suspension mountain bike... check.
fixed gear road bike... check.
72V electric bike... check.
recumbent tadpole trike... check.

well, looks like i've finally got all my bases covered.

i can tell i'm going to be having a lot of fun with this new trike :D

Nice one D

Yes they are so much fun, I have a similar bunch of bikes as well, the KMX is a strong pull at the weekends, just an hours blast on 1 lipo is a great way to wake yourself up in the morning around the local parks! he he.

Glad you like it!

Knoxie

Lol...i've given up on the mountain bike and 2 wheel recumbent since I got the KMX....I'd feel like I was chating on her!
Congrats Devin...the long wait is over....Have fun!

knoxie,

the "puma" is the same thing doug at EV Teck sells, correct?

what is the proceedure for using a puma with a crystalyte controller? (what modifications need to be done?)

Hi Mate

No the Puma and the EV Tech are not the same motor, its a long story but the BMX motor the Puma motor as is was promised to both Doug and Mark at ev tech and team hybrid however the distributor sent them different motors, the same as the ones maytag and Deecannio have got.

They are not the same one as appeared on the BMX video and is featured on the EV Tech pages, however they are still great motors and are very similar to the EV Tech motor. Maytags got a BMC thread is brilliant if you want to follow how to fully modifiy the motor to run at higher amps, if you dont fancy running in your own cables you can just cut them very short.

You can then hook them up to a xlyte controller, it may be possible to get quite decent performance by tying them to one of the smaller controllers but the bigger controllers seem to be better certainly at the lower voltages.

Connecting the EV Tech motor is simple and again Maytags thread details everything you would need to do, the controllers need a bit of TLC if you want to run them at 72V but I think you already run your controller at 72V anyway so it should be ok, however it is a lot of power to run at 72V so I cant say for certain how long those motors will take over 2KW I just dont know, I would personally only put 20A through them at that kind of voltage, but thats just me :)

The new Motors Mark is having made will be the Puma motor officially as they are based around the BMX motor design and are wound with thicker wire and will have a heavier gauge of wire coming from the axle, they will be rated for much higher constant power levels.

The factory are testing these for us in China, they are also supplying them with a custom built controller designed to run reliably at 72V max, it should be interesting to see how they perform, until then though the EV Tech motor is a cracking light weight motor, Mark is also selling the same motor as well, the New Puma motors will be distinguishable visibly from the outside as they will have a Puma etched in to the casing.

How did you find the KMX?

Great or what!!
