Hello everyone, after riding a friends bike with a bbs02 unit I am sold on the ebike revolution and planning on a build of my own. I have been doing a lot of research and I am after any advice or useful information in regards to the build (thank you in advance).
Background/Use: I live in Melbourne Australia, weight 85kg and will be using the bike for to work commute, errands and weekend rides. Melbourne is mostly flat terrain and after a 40-50km range. Will be trying to support local dealers, bikes companies and bike shops. My budget for build will be about 4000 aus$.

Kit: I will be using the BBSHD mid drive kit and the only local dealers are as follows.
http://emax-ebikes.com.au/
http://dillengerelectricbikes.com.au/
http://luna-mate.com/

Has anyone dealt with any of these outlets? Luna seems to have the best deal at the moment BBSHD unit, 52v14ah battery, color display and program cable and spaces. 1800 delivered.

Bike: after a lot of looking around I have come down to these two options
Avanti Inc 2 $1499(specs in link)
https://www.avantiplus.com.au/products/av230a613/title/avanti-inc-2

Pros-
its black
alfine 8 igh
Cons-
Disk brakes
Gates carbon belt drive does not have center track tech (CDX)

Avanti Inc 3 $1999
https://www.avantiplus.com.au/products/av230a614/title/avanti-inc-3

Pros-
Hydraulic brakes
Gates carbon belt drive CDX
Cons-
Color will make kit stand out (going for stealth)
Mounting e brake senors on levers
alfine 11 igh

My inspiration for bike was seeing a post with the spot brand acme build
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=179792

Issues I can foresee are as follows:
Gates Carbon drive – I will be using the California Ebike BBSHD chain ring adapter which will fit the 130mm BCD chain ring. With a spacer kit im pretty sure I will be able to get the chain line within the 3 mm tolerance. My only question is the difference between the two different drives? On the Inc.3 it is equipped with the CDX, on the Inc.2 has the normal belt drive, either it will work or will need to pay and upgrade to CDX

Internal Gear Hub – I will be installing a gear senor (will it help?) to prolong life of the hubs but which is best, have read afline 8 is more reliable and that with a BBSHD you wont really need much gear range. Just not sure which to go for.

Brakes – I consider hydraulic brakes a must. High speed, cars, people. No brainer.
If I go the Inc 2 will need to upgrade. Two brake systems with e cut off are available, the tektro hd-e710 http://www.tektro.com/_english/01_products/01_prodetail.php?pid=155&sortname=E-Bike&sort=2&fid=2
Or the TRP Zurich http://emax-ebikes.com.au/product/trp-zurich-high-performance-quad-piston-hydraulic-disc-brake/
Not sure which one to go for.
The Avanti Inc 3 has Shimano M446 system but mounting sensors might be an issue. Wondering are these brakes good enough for the job or increasing the disk size from 160mm to 180mm with hardwearing brake pads will improve stopping power.

And last question do kits come with the tool to secure the two main bolts of the mid drive, or is it easily available at bike stores or something I need to purchase.

Here are some pics of the bike

I bought an INC 3 with the plan of getting a BBS02 installed by my local guy in Adelaide. After he had the bike for a few weeks we came to the conclusion that it can't be done.

He (and some engineer friends) gave it a good go but couldn't get the belt to line up properly due to the slightly narrow bottom bracket. I'm not sure if the INC 2 has the same problem.

I am going to visit him again and see if the BBS03 will work as I know it has a few attachment/options for that area of the bike.

If your ride is mostly flat then the inc 3 will do the job without the motor. I rode it for 6 months 24km round trip each day to work until I moved to a more hilly area, now I need the motor. It's a very smooth ride indeed.

I have done a fair bit of searching when I first got my bike to see if anyone else had done this and as far as I could tell, they hadn't. I struggled to find any hub geared mid drive bike at all.

Good luck with it.. .Update this if you have any success!!!

Hey Paws, cheers for the response. did the bike you have a EBB bottom bracket? im aware it is impossible to fit bbs unit to these types of mounts/bottom brackets.
2016 INC 3 had EBB bottom bracket, 2017 models have the same set up as the inc 2. (can you see any differences or any issues from photos in first post?)

Hoping with a simple 68mm bottom bracket. and vertical dropouts with a horizontal sub frame chain tension adjust. i should be able to get a good chain line and tension. fingers crossed. can anyone for see any issues?

hey everybody. just like to update you with my never ending drama of a bike.
so got my bbshd and 52v 13 ah battery from luna-mate in Perth. they forgot to send the display unit but luckily they expressed posted to me quickly.

i was hoping the the gates chain ring and the 130 bcd adapter would line up. but no luck. 6mm out. will have to cad a chain ring in solidwroks and get it made. sticking with chain set up, used the stock 46t chain ring and 22t cassette. for the time being
IMG_2065.jpg
got the trp qaud piston zurich brakes. they are amazing but rotors they came with would not fit and had to order new rotors. if your building a bike get the best brakes you can. they have saved already a few times
IMG_2059.jpg
so the bike got built up and everything worked for first few rides
IMG_2076 (1).jpg

first issue i had was the motor kept coming loose. regardless of how tight i bolted her up it would come loose. this would effect how tight/ loose the chain was. and even though it is igh hub with no derailleur. chain would jump off going over bumps
had to get a few metal hose clamps. to keep it in place. interlocking two em around the motor and frame. while doing this noticed the teeth in the triangle brace had chewed massive lines in the frame from the movement.
IMG_2173.jpg

few up grades where shimano step crank arms. lekkie bling ring. 18t cassette, ergon grips. but the biggest improvement was getting suspension on the bike cause at speed the vibrations and bumps where killing me. (have broken both wrists in past and have a screw in one of em)

the red shift shock stop is amazing. smooths out all vibrations. and takes alot of the force out of big bumps more info here http://www.titaniumgeek.com/gear-reviews/redshift-shockstop/
also thudbuster st. together makes a hardtail bike roll over anything

everything was going well. until the noise appeared. weird grinding noise, and vibrations coming through the frame. had a look around and found this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lVRTRFueUU

so decided to open up the drive. and found fcuk all grease on the gears
IMG_2254.jpg
IMG_2255.jpg
loaded up as much of this stuff in there and put it back together
IMG_2256.jpg

closed it back up and went for a ride. i dont have any noise anymore but still getting vibrations from drive here and there( do i need more or less power?). since ive put it back together the speedo is not working, and works intermittently. i have a weird icon on the display and the system turns itself off for no reason. im stuck and not sure what to do. suggestions / questions

the weird logo next to 4. error 21. but comes and goes. check display if any other errors but nothing
