I have a Grin Tech Bafang G311 motor, V6 baserunner controller and a 24 pole PAS sensor installed on a Bike Friday NWT. During the first 5 minutes or so of a ride the motor cuts in and out as I pedal. After that, it steadies out and operates normally. I expect if it was a hardware problem it would be consistent, the fact it only occurs when I start off and then goes away has me confused. Any ideas on what be causing the problem?

Yeah.
You have a very high eRPM geared motor and problems are expected at high RPM unless you have a controller capable of it.
What winding are you running, on what size wheel, and what voltage?

Do you have a throttle and if so, do you still experience this cutout business?

It's a fast wind front hub motor on a 20-inch rim. I have a 36v battery. Not sure about the throttle, I don't use it much. I'll check it on my next ride

I thought so. You might have bumped into the RPM limitation of the phaserunner with that dual reduction controller just because of the 20 inch wheel + speed wind factor.

If that's the case then the throttle will be the same.

Tuning may affect it, i don't know the exact details but i have heard of Grin knowing what to do.

Hopefully i'm wrong and throttle works for you.
