Have other people experienced the following mis-manufactured parts?
If so please write your distributors and Bafang and ask that this be corrected.

I am very pleased with the performance of the motor and controls sofar, but am concerned over poor quality design/control
and what the longevity of the motor components may be. This was an expensive purchase and very difficult conversion of a tandem for the handicapped.

1. BBSHD factory retaining ring from the factory has mis-aligned holes and cannot be used as is.

2. one of two threaded nubs on motor that receive fixing ring bolts is excessively short, about 3 to 4 screw threads long.
This is neither strong (end of bolts is usually tapered) nor permits length of bolt to pass through without penetrating motor casing seal.
Very poor design.

3. opposite threaded nub is too close to motor housing; fixing bolt gouges side of motor housing.
Very poor design.

Yes. I did my install about 4 weeks ago and ran into the same problem. I was in the middle of the install and first screw goes in fine but the second is at an angle which would strip had I gone any further. It seems to be a problem is with the most recent shipment of BBSHDs because I have heard of and seen first hand other kits with the same problem.

I just gradually increased the diameter of the holes on the Y bracket until everything set up nicely and it has been working flawlessly since.

Slightly related- I'm in the middle of my own install, and I'm finding the M6 fasteners for the triangle bracket will not thread into the motor housing. I assume I will need to re-tap the motor housing. The fasteners included in the kit seem to be 6mm x 1mm... but does anyone know what size thread in the motor case is meant to be? 5mm seem way too small.

Edit: yes. 6mm x 1mm tap. One thread needed it much more than the other.
