Going to convert a citybike to ebike and only missing a battery. Pswpower got ALX006/009 48V/10.4Ah | 48V 14.5Ah for great price $95/$120 and less when buying multiple. For the citybike with rear rack I'll need a different enclosure to make sure it's protected against the elements or direct sunlight as these batteries are made for foldable bikes where it sits inside the frame.

My plan is either to replace the battery to a different case altogether, or shield it in some other way and place it on my rear rack. I've uploaded images.
Any suggestions of how it can be done? Any cheap empty cases for example that are of interest or different ways to go about it?rearrack.jpgebatt.jpg

Second option is to go with $145 48V 13Ah battery that has all the output cables sticking out. Would just need to reinforce with padding, EVA Foam or Neoprene sheet that don't harden during cold weather and is water resistant.

Put it in a rack bag?
Yeah, padding + some sort of rack bag or waterproof bag I suppose. Would have to extend some cables aswell that's about it. That's one option at least. A Neoprene 17.3" laptop case should probably fit.

Conclusion:
Bought the ALX009 14.5Ah 48V battery, also went with an steel box (with lock) 40x22x10cm that will be placed on the rear rack. Top cover of the battery will be removed (so total height will be 345mm) as I will need to solder different output cables (Bullet connector) and mount the charging port on the side of the case.

The case itself will be containing the battery + controller and all cables. Gonna secure the battery and controller inside the case with thick double-sided butyl rubber tape (2-3mm) which also provides vibration dampening qualities that works with high/low temperatures.rearrackcase.jpg
