battery dying?

my E-Go was fast with the battery level of the board at 10% or 100%.
now, it's noticeably much slower when battery board is around 50%. is the battery dying? time to replace?
believe it or not, i've only charged it up 10 times. it was advertised to last over 1000 charges though
 
I forget what batteries those use but I think I remember them being pretty good except low c rating. I don't know if that's the case but it was said they might be speed-limiting the board by the low c rating. If so, which I doubt, that would kill your batteries pretty quickly.
If u can get the batteries out and get a simple multimeter to test the voltage you could test them at full charge and also later test them when they're starting to lose power after hard use (and see what temp they are as that could answer the c rating question). At full charge they should be up to maybe as high as 4.2 each cell and when they are losing power ..I forget where the voltage cliff is with li-ion. But the board has a bms and would likely shut off when the battery was getting towards it and this makes me think maybe your lack of speed isn't related to drained or dead batteries. Is the motor getting hot?

the battery, bms, and motor are all sealed. i will have to ask a mech friend to come over n check it out. i will report back.
as i understand it, the battery is comprised of many small batteries soldered together in parallel and series. would it be better or possible if the battery is made of 1 solid piece? hehe

E-go has li-ion I'm pretty sure. Lead acid would suck. But you could still figure the voltage with lead acid anyway right?

Best not to ask your friend for help. It's times like these when you need to overcome your fears and lack of knowedge and just start unscrewing things till something falls out or you feel a strong shock. Use one hand and the batteries won't be able to send a current across your heart. You need to discover how strong you really are and what kind of amperage you can handle before you can move forward in electronics. But remember you must tilt your head just right when doing this kind of work though. Get that part down and the rest is just baby shocks

If they're soldered you can still get volt readings from individual cells. Open it up!

Do you want to be the guy who was waiting for his "friend", or do you want to be the guy who got in there and did whatever it takes. If you're really worth your weight you'll learn how to be fully independent of humans and eventually even mechanical devices aka tools. My tongue can give voltage and amp hours to the first decimal at this point. My fingernail does Phillips heads. My spit is gorilla spit. Get it done!

Einstein (physicist) only knew so much and to catapult his success he needed the help of others who are also very intelligent in their own field. He needed help from other scientists and mathematicians because that was not his practice and it was above his own knowledge.

There is nothing bad about having a mentor or someone who mentors you. A mentor can only take you so far, you would have to be the one to take advantage of the opportunity.

With your attitude, it is naive thinking since it's obvious nobody knows everything from the start. One can learn but it helps to know the exact reasons why things are done a certain way.
 
sometimes it best to fail repeatedly and get zapped. and then listen to others. but seriously it shouldn't take an expert to open the E-go. It's a screwdriver job. and figuring the voltages of the cells is pretty straight forward too. Sometimes we are too afraid to get close to our own success.
 
If you haven't already try checking the sport/eco mode switch on the remote. The switch doesn't hold to the sport position well and it's quite easy to set it back to eco during normal usage. My non-modified Ego had speed issues for a couple of charges as well. Think it was the switch thing, but I couldn't be sure.

you are right! it seems others have similar issues too. they had on Rabbit mode, but going slow Turtle mode. there are some methods they recommended me to try.

im afraid of opening the board up cause i might not be able to put everything back properly. i have been zapped before so im not afraid of that :)
