Welcome to the site. The moderators will probably want you to keep the subject in one thread. Did you get any charger from bms company where you got the battery?

Based on the picture, most likely the Anderson end (black/red) is for the bike, and the one that looks like an AC cord plug is for charging.

But you need to look at your charger and see what it's output plug looks like, as that should be the one that matches the charging port on the battery.

If you did not get the charger at the same time as the battery, from the same company, then you may need to change the connectors on both of them to make them match anyway, and you will need to use a voltmeter to find out which wire is positive and which is negative.

There does not appear to be a separate BMS connector shown in your picture, so if the pack does not have a BMS built into it, you would have to open it up to add whatever connector matches whatever BMS you separately purchased, if any.

Ya I didn't buy a charger with the battery, I have a Tenergy 5a charger. The company that I bought the battery from listed the battery as 36v 15ah 12Cells ebike battery pack with BMS, so I am assuming the bms was built into the pack. The one lead out of the battery is a male AC computer type connector with red and green wires, they did give me the female end with it, which could go on the end of the charger. The Anderson end has black and red wires and the power lead from controller has black and red wires. Was able to get hold of a multimeter and both leads out of battery reads 40.8 v with out me charging the battery. Still not sure which end is for what.

I would bet the andersons are discharge side of the bms. Double check polarity with the voltmeter before hooking up anything.

And I mean double check, as a beginner I mixed up wires as I was putting on the connector, and without checking again, plugged chargers in backwards. Several times.

Did the same thing to a controller last week too,   .

Not looking to be a nuisance to anyone, just have two more question. Hooked up Anderson cnnectors to controller with out hall sensor and took for a test ride and every thing is working fine.

Being that I know just enough to be dangerous is it safe for me to now charge the battery with the other lead coming out of the battery, or in other would the controller work off of both leads from the battery or just off the one I have it working on now.

If I hook up the hall sensor what will that do for me. (Thanks for the help been a life saver)

Get a voltmeter. get a voltmeter. GET a voltmeter. Test twrice before hooking up the charger. Don't ride till fully charged with the right charger made for your type of battery. Don't make this a guessing game as you could lose.
More info on the motor and hall setup. Where did you get it and some info on the controller. How about some info on the charger. Don't ride your bike till you fully charge your battery. It should be left on the charger many hours to balance the pack after the charger light comes on. If you have the right charger for Lifepo4 ? With the right voltage.
No guessing you must know.

I would be almost certain that the discharge ports (that go the controller) are the Anderson ones. You can send a note to BMS and ask them to be sure. I have found that they reply fairly quickly.

A bit late now, but if it were me, I would have ordered the charger with the battery. They are not expensive if the shipping is covered and it virtually is as you are already paying to have the battery shipped. It is always good to have a second charger. If you have only one and it quits (which they do), you will be stuck until you either diagnose and fix it or go buy another one.

As advised, double-check all the polarities with a Multimeter before plugging anything in. What is it the carpenters say? -Measure twice - Cut once!

Got a reponse back from BMS Battery and everything is connected right, thanks again for the help.
Think I know why they call it a fun motor, may have a new hobby.
Off to work on my new ebike, it is now dark here in the north and will soon be dark riding home, will need some LED lights.

Getting older now and have to measure three four times now day's.
Put electric tape on the two hot sides so when I pluged the two together the taped lined up, other wise I would be scratching my head wondering if I did it right. ( Have A Great Day.)
