BBSHD Spacer Between Mounting Plate and Bottom Bracket

Hi. I am installing a BBSHD on my bike and want to confirm something.

Notes:

- I have a California Ebikes Stabilizer Bar *used in lieu of the triangle mounting plate

- I have a Lekkie One Nut *used in lieu of the pair of Bafang Mount Nuts

On the non drive side, according to the diagram on the manual I have to install the triangle mounting plate first so it kisses the bottom bracket housing. Then I install the two nuts.

Because I am using the stabilizer bar, when I install it first, the bar hits the non drive chain stay and is not completely straight/ parallel with the bottom bracket. However, if I put a bottom bracket spacer first then the stabilizer bar, I can have the stabilizer bar pretty flush with the non drive chain stay.

So my question is, is it acceptable to have 1-2 washers between the stabilizer bar and bottom bracket housing?

got pics of this situation?

Thanks everyone. I over thought it.

I just bent it and had it similar to how you have in your pic. My clamps are coming tonight and it should be enough to hold.

In my case it doesn't sit completely flush against the seat tube but I think it is fine.

Veering off topic now but how close can I have my BBSHD Gear Housing to the drive side chain stay?

Currently I have two 2mm spacers on the drive side. If I take out one spacer there is still a very tiny amount of space (maybe 2mm of space?) but the housing is not touching the chain stay. Is it safe to have the housing so close to the chain stay? Is 2mm enough to make a difference with the alignment on my lowest gear?

There should be no movement of the housing or the rear chain stay so the clearance can be almost nothing. Are you already fighting alignment issues? Takes quite a bit of misalignment to be a problem. My misalignment was cracking Leckkie Rings under maximum loads but still ran fine. (When the pic was taken I ran a 5-sprocket freewheel. I run a 6-sprocket now with more misalignment and no problems other than I just don't do "Full Pulls" in 1st gear any more.)

Thank you.

I have a Box One Prime 9 speed drive train.

My previous setup was a TSDZ2B with a 42T chain ring. The chain line was not the best on 1st gear and it slips when I pedal hard climbing a 11% grade hill on 1st gear so I usually just stay at 2nd.

Had some funds and bought a BBSHD with the Lekkie goodies😁. The offset on the 40T was the biggest at 20.8.

Since I'm essentially rebuilding the bike I want to make sure everything is sound.

I think if I have no spacers my 40T Lekkie Bling Ring can still clear the chain stay. Also my chain line would improve a lot. But the BBSHD housing is kissing the chain stay and there is literally no gap between them. Is this a big deal? Or should I just run with one spacer to leave about 2mm room between the gear housing and chain stay?

Usually a slip on the chain/sprocket means it's time for a new chain and cassette/freewheel.

Leave a washer in and monitor for movement. I don't mean movement between housing and chain stay (but that should be watched) but movement of the BBSHD in general as the spacing washers tend to allow a bit more slippage.
