I have a kick bike project with 20" wheels. I'm wanting to lace my dd hub motor into a 16" motorbike rim and use a bicycle tyre. Has anyone got this combination or know if it's possible?

Sorry I couldn't help.
does any of this help?

Thanks for the link, a great interesting thread. Unfortunately I couldn't see anything that answers my question. I suspect that a mc rim requires a moped tyre rather than a bicycle tyre. I basically want the strength of a mc rim & spokes but for it to be as light as possible (hence the bicycle tyre).

Sorry I couldn't help.
how about this?

Most if not all posts relate to fitting a mc tyre to a bicycle rim whereas I'm doing the opposite. I came across this post which was interesting but still doesn't really answer my question. I'm maybe over thinking it?

I wonder how the bike will look like with 20" rims. Think RIx said before that you can use MC tyres with 20" bike rims.
I really like Maxxis crrepy crawaler, wish they couldmake them in 24

That rim and tire the Maxxis Creepy Crawler is technically a 19.5" tire and the rims for those is either 15 or 15.5". A 16MC tire will no work on that rim. Now a true 20" Bicycle/BMX rim/tire uses a 16" diameter which is why small 16MC tires are fitting on them. There are several folks on ES, including Doc Bass, I think, that have ran 16mc tires on a "20" BMX rims. Just keep in mind the rim and tire in the pic will not work with any 16MC tire. All this said. I have never tried mounting a 16" MC tire on a 20" bicycle wheel. So I bases the compatibility on what I have read here on ES.

The mc rim has a sectional dimension of 40.5mm (inner faces of rim) whereas a typical bicycle rim (trials) is 38mm. Not a massive difference. Forum member Relanium successfully fitted one he tells me so I'm a bit more positive. Would be good to hear other success stories before I pay to get a motor laced in a rim.

Not in my second search--I specifically did what you are wanting (though I have also used moped tires too)
