Completely my fault :)

On the way to work this morning, almost finished the 20% climb and got asked for direction. I stopped and pulled over, gave directions then pulled off with throttle straight away.

So far it has given me a trouble free 1200 miles :)

Fortunately, I ordered a couple just in case. This model has the traces re-enforced with rods.

I own and use KU123/KU93/KU63. I am also developing a controller based on KU63: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=38337

KU123 should avoid that situation, since it haves current measure/control!!

I also have a KU93 that stop working after it got hot. The controller have a temperature sensor, it shouldn't fail.

Interesting, what battery setup did you have?
I just blew mine, I plugged my 12S turnigy lipo battery on it the wrong way around. Battery's seem fine just controller is dead.
I had a few beers last night, I figured it was just enough brain cells out of action the next day to lapse my judgement.

Just a bit a smoke came out of the controller that's it, doesn't work now.
I haven't opened up yet.
Does any one else sell KU123 aside from Bmsbattery?

Yeah beer is one of the best reasons I know of for using polarized connectors. I won't drink and ride but I have been known to work on trikes in a somewhat "relaxed" state after a ride.

I use bullets actually, but I happened to solder the main lead into the controller the wrong way so I created an inverter lead.
For what ever reason I decided to change a few things around on my bike and forgot about my inverter lead on my controller when I reconfigured everything.

I have ordered some Anderson connectors, think I have had enough of bullets.

I ordered a new KU123 controller from BMSbattery and I have noticed they have improved it a bit. Just a reminder I blew my original KU123 by plugging my battery on the wrong way.
There is now an easy way to convert the KU123 between 36v and 48v mode. You can now just merely disconnect a red wire plug and it changes to 48v mode which is good for me since I have both battery types.

Some of the other leads have changed a bit as well but I don't see what the actual difference is.

After I took off my original KU123 something was rattling inside so I opened it up. One of the caps blew/puffed with the goo at the top. The other one blew right off the PCB, the one of the left is actually meant to be sitting right next to the other cap.

Also looks like some PCB peeled off underneath.

I attached some new bullet connectors and some Anderson powerpoles on the controller, after I was done I couldn't believe the slew of tools I left on the floor afterwards. 2012-12-20T22-51-33_Tools.jpg
