Im going to get a complete ebike from http://www.hi-powercycles.com ,
The build quality is excellent. They offer an upgraded gear set and clutch for the 600watt v2 so the gears should not be an issue.

Have you talked with Ilia, he is local to you in SF and sells bmc.

He has a solution to the problems plaguing the 1000w motor (see page 6).

Maybe you could take some test rides.

I would buy local but I am actually doing car repair work trade for this bike. The owner of the car to be repaired has both a 600w v2 and 1000w v3 bike. Both have cycle analist and 10ah 48v batteries as supplied with the fully built bikes seen on the hi powered cycles web site. The 1000w has thicker phase wires up to the axle and the 600 has upgraded gears and clutch. So far the 1000w has had a few issues maybe a burnt controller? But both bikes run well now. I think the 600w bike has been more reliable. Both are built on the same KHS dual suspension bike. The 1000w is worth more but reliability is important too. I have to decide tonight.

I got it!
Illia came to the previous owner's place and wired up the cycle analyst. Thank you Illia
I rode to work through golden Gate Park today. 9.6 miles 5.5 ah used. Battery recharged in 1/2 hour or 45 minutes.

I just rerouted all the wires more neatly, carefully wrapped the harness in tape, added a kick stand and moved the controller to the bike bag to make it look less like and ebike.
When I ride this bike in the city it goes fast enough to take a lane. I love it. It is an awsome bike.

BMC 1000watt motor w/ fatter phase wires

10ah 48v lithium pack from BMC

50 amd bmc controller ( I set it to 40 ah on the cycle analyst.

6 amp fast charger

Very nice bike. Similar frame to what I'm running. Please let us know how you like it over the long haul and what issues come up.

It's cool you did a trade for your labor so you aren't out any cash on the deal. Even if you have to put a few bucks in it you are still way ahead.

I had agreat ride home. San Francisco at 4:30 pm is a mess of traffic and horn beeping.
I found the controller to be quite hot when I felt it upon arriving home. I see now that the bike bag on the rack is well insulated as if it is designed to keep a 6 pack cool.
When the controller was mounted under the rack it was only zip tied on and all the plugs and controller case seemed exposed to water spray if you ride through a puddle. The controller end caps and case have been resealed with black silicone by BMC usa? I would still be weary of riding through a puddle and spraying the controller.
I think I want to cut a square hole in the bottom or side of the rack bag and make the controller cooling fins stick out into the air flow. Or I could mount it under the rack again. I could also put a fan to draw air through the bag but that seems too complicated.
The Prima ebike had an interesting set up. The controller fins stuck out through a large square hole in the bottom of the inner fender liner. The controller fins faced down towards the top of the rear wheel. The controller had a gasket between the fender and controller case so that even if the inside of the rear fender were sprayed with water as you rode through a puddle it would not get the end caps or connections to the controller wet.

I ended up putting the controller back under the rack. I can now remove the bag and battery when I go into a restaurant or store. The controller remains under the rack held on with two super sized zip ties.

I bought a bmc motor 600 watt.It worked fine for two months then when i used the
throttle i could hear the motor spinning but the wheel itself did not go round.I sent the wheel
back and a new one was sent back after a long wait. The new wheel after two days of ridding
has done the exact same thing as the previous one.Can anyone tell me if there is a fault in
these motors?

You need to get the upgraded clutch from a 1000 watt motor and install it yourself. This is part of the trouble of being an early adopter! Good luck!

Speak to llia first. I promise you,..there is nothing to be lost and much to be gained from conversing with the people here.

I went on a ride with Illia and am in contact with him. Like I said earlier in this thread I got the bike through work trade so I had no options for which dealer it came through.
